I dont' see how Griffin would resign in Boston if they trade for him. He is an aspiring actor who hangs out with Hollywood people and has cameos in sitcoms etc. standups comedian nights and what else. Between him and Westbrook I see Russel as less of a flight risk.
Notwithstanding the fact that AD is great, KAT seems great, Wiggins is super super super solid... Those are #1 overall picks and there's been as much draft disappointment at the top as great picks. Even when it all works out... Like with KD... You're still looking at 4 years of waiting. If Ainge is reluctant to move the picks plus players then he better really truly believe his hardline tactics will work. He's got the coach. They signed a 30'year old to a mad deal. He's got plenty of interesting pieces... But no superstars. But by all means happy to see him overvalue those future pick rights. That said i don't think Griffin is the piece for them. He'd definitely be a huge improvement and clearly Horford can play with that type of PF. But Griffin is maximized paired with a truly elite wing player... Which IT isn't... And a truly dominant defensive center.... Which Horford isn't. It's a tough call for the Clips perspective. They are and have been so super talented. You could see them historically giving the Warriors a great series. But blow it against Houston, unfortunate injuries, and then GSW takes advantage and lands KD and the clips still have that team that struggles to close. Not sure what they should do....
With the Clippers recent moves, it doesn't seem like it would make much sense to trade Blake Griffin. Doc has made his annual load up on veteran minimum contracts and this year it's Ray Felton, Maurice Speights, and Brandon Bass. So all signs point to the Clippers bringing the band together one more year with a new set of vets to go along for the ride. With OKC losing Durant, the Clippers can now play for the #2 seed vs the Duncan-less Spurs. Sure, Duncan was pretty worthless near the end anyway and they are getting Gasol now, but the whole team is also another year older and they lost David West from their bench. The Clippers only hope to actually compete with the Warriors would be if Wes Johnson finally started to play like the #4 overall lottery pick that he was out of Syracuse. There's no need for the Clippers to trade for Rudy Gay when Wes Johnson was draft rated to be way better than Rudy Gay to begin with.
makes sense to trade him now while he still has significant value...he's a very good player but there are too many red flags for me to give up alot for him... short arms - which will be an even bigger problem when his hops go poor defender can't make 3s as someone else said...he's basically the derozan of power forwards
Anyone else feel like the impending exodus from the Clippers is coming closer to reality? CP3, Blake, and JJ Reddick are set to hit free agency next season and I could legit see all three of them leaving...they don't have the assets to bring in another impact player to compete with the Warriors/Cavs/Spurs and CP3 is gonna wanna try to get a title before he leaves... My guess - CP3 to SAS or NYK Blake to OKC, DAL, or HOU Reddick to the highest bidder.
Dont forget...Doc doesnt stay either. He really is a mediocre coach that has gotten by with excellent talent. And very overrated on this board.. Also I have suggested that the Clippers inquire about swapping CP3 with Irving NOW. They've had enough chances to get things done, and thought that DeAndre' reneging on the Mavs would have a bad impact for the Clippers in the future. Their window is officially closed...They will never win with this collection of dudes together. If Balmer has any sense...he'd see their inevitability and move on from Paul and build around Griffin.
