Gilberto Celestino (the big 2015 July 2 signing) has had a great debut thus far in the DSL. .850 OPS and a strong BB:K ratio.
Super stoked about Celestino and Enmanuel Valdez. Can't wait for those 2 and Freudis Nova to get stateside. Pretty bummed that Ronny Rafael has hit so poorly this far.
Carlos Machado is slashing .350/.373/.388 so far in the GCL. He hit .344/.410/.383 in the DSL last season. Just 18 years old. Cristian Javier allowed an unearned run, a triple, and struck out 9 today for the GCL club. At one point, he recorded 7 straight Ks. Javier was dominant after joining the DSL last June, and he's carrying that over in his US debut.
Probably just to get him an extra inning or two and stretch his arm out after the break. Bregman/White/Tucker/Hernandez/Moran/Singleton is a pretty stout AAA 1-6, that's just about better than a bunch of the lineups the Stros rolled out a couple of years ago.
That's a bummer. Hope it's just a blister or something. Wow, just realized Musgrove is pitching tomorrow. I'm geeked, haven't been to the Dell in over a year.
Headed to CC this weekend, will take in at least one Hooks game. Who should I really be looking at? I think Martes pitches Wednesday, so I'll miss him. Paulino on 7 day DL. Yuhl look like he has solid numbers. I see familiar names, Fisher and Fontana, JD Davis. Who should I be paying attention too. Thank you in advance. Looking forward to it...been a while since I've been in that park. Looking forward to Round Rock back in Astros system too.
That's a great place to watch a game and a great area to do lots of things. Look at Davis at 3B (how quick is he?), Fisher in the OF (his arm, jumps, etc) and Stubbs behind the plate (but esp at the plate). That's about it for position guys.
Thank you, really looking forward to it. I like the small parks and young players. Years back I saw Pence, a few weeks before he was called up and Zobrist. A few weeks before he was unfortunately traded. Zobrist was great with my kiddos, I'll never forget it.

After a 2-homer game last night, Ronnie Dawson homered again for Tri-City. <iframe src='http://www.milb.com/shared/video/embed/embed.html?content_id=942874083&width=400&height=224&property=milb' width='400' height='224' frameborder='0'>Your browser does not support iframes.</iframe> Randy César is on an 8-game hitting streak for the ValleyCats and has raised his average from .316 to .389 in that stretch.
That's a pretty swing from Dawson. Ramon Laureano starting to become very intriguing. Hitting .519 during his 14 game hitting streak
Indeed on Laureano. I have seen him making noise in the box score but didn't think much of it since he just tur but that is not too old for Lancaster. His away splits are solid too at 0.867 OPS. Also, didn't realize he was a pretty good baserunner with 31 SB and 10 CS. Shows decent speed I assume.
Laureano should stay off the radar until he gets to AA. For now he's a fringy prospect having a good year in a hitter's league. Probably doesn't have the power for a corner or the defense for center. Hasn't really been young for his league.
