Relative to expectations when he signed, exceeded. Relative to expctations adter hia first dozen games, probably not. So yeah, expectations are a moving goal.
I don't expect too much from Daryl Morey anymore. i cant see him making this team anything more than a perrenial 5th seed
in terms of success hakeem era >>>> harden era > yao & tmac era >> franchise era >>> km era and he's just 27 we could even had more success if only Morey did his job of surrounding him with a competent coaching staff and roster and if only d12 manned up and was professional enough last year
he has been amazing. stunning. but he hasn't had enough help, the only time it was decent was 14-15 and if he had Bev and DMo against GSW I still think they would have moved on and beat Cleveland in the Finals
The first years were as good as we could expect. It brought us Dwight, made us contenders, we were an attractive destination, Harden was an MVP candidate, etc. It looked like we were set up to contend for years to come. Last year was a disaster much worse than I thought realistic. Dwight left, coach fired in 11 games, prime free agents wouldn't sign with us or even meet with us in some cases, Morey lost power and Les is meddling, we have zero flexibility or assets, Harden regressed on defense plus set the turnover record and was out of shape much of the year, didn't even make an All-NBA team etc. It looks like we will be mediocre for years to come. I have whiplash.
So far Harden wasn't the best performer in our best year during the Harden era... That distinction goes to Playoff Dwight.
