i know this doesn't add anything to the conversation, but the idea of basketballholic beating someone to the rim in pickup hoops completely goes against the mental image I have built up about the guy.

I think delayed signing with DMo was/is in everyone's interest, even DMo himself, cop-out of NT, to regain his shape. I think if he stays in rockets he recieves 8-12 mil/y, if hes S&T then it can be much bigger sum.

No way he gets 8-12 mil/yr that ship has sailed and he was left off it by all 30 teams including the rockets.

Festus who I agree is not great but many thought was for sure going to get a nice contract got 2yr 15mil with a team option after the first (dmos best case imo) Jared sullinger who is injury prone also but more proven than dmo signed a 1yr 6mil deal (what I hope we give him)

And then tjones who is the rockets fans whipping boy who I agree is not better than dmo but also has better numbers and more proven track record just signed for the minimum it looks like for 1yr.

That's dmos range minimum to 7.5 mil for 1 yr. that's what the market is dictating for injured bigs with unproven talent and that's exactly what dmo is.

He's not a 10 mil a year player if he was he wouldn't be a FA right now and he would also prob be in a Detroit uniform right now.

Sullinger road the bench in PO, he was pathetic. Sullinger getting 6mil is fair. If DMo is healthy he will get much better offer then Sully.

Festus is an interesting example. He was an RFA whose stock went down because of injury concerns and look what deal he got. Basically a "prove it" deal.

Crazy thing the Rockets offered Jones and extention but he turned it down thinking he would have a solid year.

Yeah, it's really good they didn't make that mistake. The Rockets almost got stuck with a broken Chris Bosh. Maybe Morey is more lucky than good.

So your saying that dmo will get what festus got which is a 1yr 7.5 mil? Because theirs no way he gets more than that.

And dmo wasn't anything special in the playoffs outside of one game and tbh that playoffs stretch was his best stretch of the season and like I mentioned it wasn't great.

I'm not hating on dmo I want him back but I'm just saying I wouldn't expect him to receive more than what festus got and tbh I think he has to settle for the 5-6 mil range for one year unless he doesn't want to gamble on himself and takes a 4yr 24-28 million deal which I doubt he does unless he knows his back is that bad and won't ever be more than a good rotation 15min a game big, which is all he is tbh and That's not a bad thing.

Some of you are to caught up in the year he had before he got injured. Sure if that season he entered FA or played like that this season than he would have got 12-15 mil a year for 3-4 seasons easy I agree. But the reality is he is still hurt and played really poorly and his flashes were not great this year.

The guy only has 70 games of good play in 4 years and that good play ended in a major injury. He's not getting more than sully who at least has shown he can play and has had a much more productive proven career so far.

If DMo was going to get a big offer, it would have been done by now. So either the Rockets offer DMo a team friendly contract (like the Festus one, 2yr, team option on 2nd year) OR the Rockets work a S&T with DMo getting him a richer deal to match salaries coming back.

I think the only thing that changes that is if there is a big NBA trade and some teams are left with a roster imbalance and then they might re-evaluate what options they might have available to them to add talent.

Nuggets & Sixers have cap room but there isn't a need.
Nets have cap room and a need but have been quick to offer deals to Crabbe and Tyler Johnson only to lose out. You would think if they were interested in DMo they would immediate offer him a deal after losing out. So far they haven't.

Or the Rockets and player agents never planned to sign Okuanu and Payton until after their Summer League [e]valuations are complete...and 3yr contracts are no available to offer the moment we sign DMo.

Could simply be a game of dominoes, which BimaThug already suggested, and I'm just suggesting the SL schedule played a role.

How much cap space remains to Brooklyn though? How much money they put on Scola, Foye, Bennett? (don't even know if i forgot someone...)

Objectively the failed Detroit trade with all the back issue concerns cost DMO some dollars this free agency and most probably no one is going to throw big money at him or give him a long term contract but you never know.

The Vertical's Brooklyn Nets salary page currently shows cap space at $22.158M [14 players, not including Foye].
Albert Nahmad's league-wide page currently shows Nets' cap space at $21.658M [15 players].

It has been a fun run, but it is clearly time to fire Morey. He was the thing a few years back, but has consistently dissappointed ever since Hinkie left. This horrible offseason should put the nail in Morey's coffin this year. My last straw was the signing of the 40 year old point guard....

So angry over the signing of a 4th string guard. I'm worried about you.

I'm sure we all fondly remember his great luck during the Yao-McGrady years. So many championships! So much luck!

I was thinking the same thing.
I simply cannot see DMo getting a 12+ deal now.
Do any teams still got cap space like that still?

What is so special about Onuaku that his sign g is holding up the signings for D-Mo, Nene and Prigs? Or any other vet min player for that matter.

Let me turn your question around, and you answer this:

If you don't have to sign DMo, Nene and Prigs, yet, then why not try to do a 2+1yr deal with your 19yr old, 2nd round pick, Onuaku, first?
