Yet another instance of Bill White failing the test of leadership. This is particularly atrocious. Bill White does not want our courageous men and women in the military to be able to vote. Unbelievable. This man is unfit to be Houston's mayor.

White assailed for view on military voting rights

Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson attacked Houston mayoral candidate Bill White on Monday for a position he took in 1997 on the voting rights of soldiers.

White, as then-state Democratic chairman, advocated that state law be changed to prevent military personnel from voting in local elections unless they intended to return to the state after their service to establish residency.

White took that position after about 800 mail-in ballots were cast by military members and their dependents that he claimed had given two Republicans narrow victories over Hispanic incumbents in Val Verde County.

Patterson, a Republican and former U.S. Marine, held a news conference with other veterans at Ellington Field to show support for Orlando Sanchez, White's mayoral opponent and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

"What you have here is a sharp contrast in candidates," Patterson said. "One served his country with honor; another tried through politically motivated lawsuits to prevent military personnel from voting in local elections."

After watching last night's mayoral debate I really don't know if Orlando Sanchez is playing the part of Trader_Jorge or if Trader_Jorge is playing the part of Orlando Sanchez. It's pretty hilarious either way.

"Bill White is an ardent supporter of Jesse Jackson. Do you want one of Jesse's puppets leading Houston?"

Who are you talking to in you signature? Do you think that someone out there has been on here reading a thread, looked at your sig and said , "hey, this guy's right.... I DONT want jackson's puppet in charge."

Thats sad, psychotic, and hilarious all rolled up into one deliciously pathetic burrito. Mmmm

Hmm... I wonder if it could be because military overwhelmingly votes Republican? Nah. Must be another reason...
