Damien Chazelle 'Whiplash' was a huge indie hit. This is his follow up. Kinda looks like PTA's Punch Drunk Love.

Surprised she didn't win a Golden Rooster.

I bet he made it with her. I don't think Ryan has made a film where he didn't bed the leading lady. Granted, he has a wife and kid now...so it would be on the down low.

It's not an either/or decision for Gosling. He just does them both at the same time.

If this movie has an equivalent number of tire iron beatdowns as Punch Drunk Love, I'll be there day one.

Not really my kind of movie but it's very good, take a girl, you will get laid afterwards guaranteed.

Musicals make me want to rip my ears off, but I might see it. Have to see the best picture every year.

Kinda pastiche. I liked it but I prefer the original French version 'The Umbrellas of Cherbourg' It's not like those super gay Broadway musicals of recent years. Chicago, Nine, Dreamgirls, Moulin Rouge. Like I sad it's more like those 60s Jacques Demy French musicals but if those are too foreign or old look up Bjork's "Oh So Quiet' music video and you'll get a feel for what kinda musical it is.

Story is kinda light, Emma is really good, Gosling is ok, beautiful cinematography, costumes, art direction. And yes you will likely get laid if you bring a lady friend.

Absolutely loved this. Chazelle directed the everloving hell out of this movie and he has definitely rocketed up my list of directors to keep an eye on. One more movie on the level of Whiplash or La La Land and he'll be a must watch for me.

There are few musicals I actually like. This was one of them. I respect that the idea that they made it not as an ironic thing, or a joke, but as an actual musical. It was a very bold move in today's market.

At first that was the only reason I went to see it. I didn't to expect to actually like the movie. But after seeing it, it was actually good.

I had low expectation bc the gf dragged me to watch it but it was better than I thought. I didn't know Emma Stone can sing.
