I don't know if they will be as good as Curry & Thompson but I think Harden & Gordon are going to be pretty dynamic.
This statement is on par with saying we all need air to breathe. All 30 teams in the NBA contend for the Championship every year. That's why they play. This is probably what one of the Rockets slimy lawyers told him to say after they got all the bad feedback on the latest signings of Anderson and Gordon and needed to pull a fast one on gullible fans. Another one would be like "We're really gonna put the ball in the bucket this year" or "With this squad we can score a lot of points." Well no ****. All teams can do that and do do that every year. Rockets are by no means in the top 8 teams in the whole league. Get real Morey.
People are complaining about Harden's ISO, wait until you see the ultimate ball stopper they just signed.
Beasley? The wildcard for this team to really shock people is if Mcdaniels or Dekkar or Harrel take a huge leap forward. I think this team is no where near being a legitimate contender as constructed but I do believe the west took a step back overall although the top two teams both got stronger. 50 wins and home court in the first round and a 2nd round elimination is my prediction.
" never underestimate the heart of a champion " Oh well...if Curry/Durant, Paul/Leonard ,CP/Griffen ,Irving/LBJ ..all went down with injuries ,then it's possible
Ya'll don't understand the first thing about public perception, and the major executive has to say in front of the media. Honestly, what else is supposed to say to the media. Especially when: 1. They just signed 2 players on the downsides of their careers to large contracts. 2. They have a franchise player who says his goal is to bring a title to Houston. 3. They want to attract other star players in future free agency periods or as trade destinations. You cannot say you are tanking or rebuilding. You could try reloading, but many would take it as weak. You cannot say we want to make good run in the playoffs or something, because again it sounds weak. No one remembers in a few months or what not if your GM was aspiring to be champion. Everyone will remember if your GM cuts your team short.
You don't say you're a championship contender when you obviously aren't and you don't say teams don't want to play you in the playoffs when teams are lining up to play you in the playoffs. When you continually say ridiculous things as a professional executive you lose your credibility. If Morey thinks he has to say these things to appease Les then he should just quit now. Les wants to be entertaining, be popular, sell tickets, and use the franchise to do business in China. Winning championships is ancillary to those things. Everyone should understand this by now. Rockets basketball has been hijacked by Les Alexander for his own personal purposes. He wants to trot his two titles out all polished up and take pictures with Dream and Drexler. Sit next to Dream near half court during televised games. He likes having kiss ass Drexler on the TV broadcasts even though he is roundly thought of as the worst announcer in the history of basketball. He involves himself in basketball decisions like signing Jeremy Lin or hiring Pringles to the detriment of the franchise. Now we're going to play defense by playing offense. It would be a novel concept if we hadn't already watched it under Doug Moe and Paul Westhead and oh Pringles. Oh it's going to be so much fun watching them score 110 points as a 6th seed until the injuries come and they will come. Thanks, Les. You're literally destroying decades of fandom.
Dear internetz, Please excuse our puppet GM, dorrell mauri. He didn't mean it, really. He's just a puppet for the evil, basketball-r****ded Le$.
I would hope people here can tell the difference between "We think this team could be a championship contender" and "We think this team IS a championship contender." For the love of God cut Morey some slack.
If you don't believe this then by all means stop calling yourself a Rockets fan. I believe that every season is a new beginning and that anything can happen. Who would've thought that the Thunder would beat the Spurs or down 3-1 the Cavs would come back and beat the Warriors, "the greatest team in history " record wise, three straight games to win the championship. Its July everybody's in, Philly could **** around and make the playoffs. As a Rockets fan, as long as we have James Harden I believe there's always a chance. Like K.G said anything is possible
