The quote feature isn't working for me right now for whatever reason. But agree that Eric and Ryan's contracts are now more concerning to me, all things considered. Their contracts could hamstring you and so could the extension -- but the latter is waaaaaaay more worth the risk, IMO. Then again, maybe he doesn't even agree to the extension if those pieces aren't in place. Everything is a risk, but I'm willing to wait and see.
Still delusional fans thinking we can attract stars just because we have capspace. GSW got Durant without enough space SAS got Gasol without enough space ATL was going to maneuver to keep Horford without enough space (except he didn't want to play with Howard)
James Harden hasn't signed a four year extension! He signed a one year contract extension with a salary readjustment, period!
Yep. Harden has to be committed for people to actually want to play for the Rockets (and has to play like an elite player as well) and ALSO the team has to be F'n competent. As in not a wreck like last season so we have to bring in good vets like we did this offseason and put up a competitive team. Also, a lot of the bad teams have cap space but you don't see Durant having interviews with the 6ers, Nuggets, and Suns. The Anderson and Gordon contracts are a risk, but if they stay healthy and make the team competitive than not really.
"I've never seen Cap Room score a basket yet though," McHale said recently. "I've seen old Cap, and his last name is Room, I've yet to see him put a hoop in, haven't seen him block a shot, haven't seen him get a rebound yet. But when Cap Room starts putting up numbers, we should be in great shape."
So it only cost us $10,000,000 more this year (and every following year) while erasing every last dime of our flexible cap money to acquire additional players so that we can guarantee 1 extra year on his contract???? That's F'ing brilliant!! Morey is playing checkers now!
Thanks. Also, with the cap set to take another big increase next year we have no idea how this contract will look in a year. All things considered, getting some stability to a franchise that was in desperate need of it is worth the cap space. Like you said, two stars is hard enough. Glad this team is focusing on building around the one it has.
Reread Woj's tweet in the first post in the thread, and tell me what you didn't understand, to the point your needed to reword it (and poorly at that...and late to the dance). We all knew it was a renegotiation for increased salary and more years as Woj states, except for ppl who only read the thread title.
What player were you gonna acquire that would allow us to even sniff having a great team? I swear some of you must jerk off to cap space. It's useless when EVERYBODY has it.
The NBA is a league of stars so if you don't have one you don't even have a chance. Morey did what he absolutely had to in order to keep this franchise relevant.
Cause in order for us to get anyone we need to take on at least one bad contract..our PG situation and PF/C position is still below par.
OK so what if we get a capable PG and a capable C, we will win 48 games instead of 45 games. A good PG costs 30 million now. The team needs seismic changes, cultural. That 10 million wasn't gonna help us in any meaningful way. Having a clear direction for the next 3 years very well may.
cap space isn't the only way to take on bad contracts that come with the player you're trying to acquire.
But now we might actually get interviews with Westbrook and Paul next year, since we are finally taking steps to stabilize our organizational culture. Without this, WB and Paul ignore us, because Harden might bolt. Capspace does nothing for you. It just makes the machinations of signing the players who want to play for you less complicated. It doesn't make stars want to play for you.
