Me too...but he had his chances to win today. Just couldn't come through. Plus with no Novak, he would have had an excellent chance to beat Murray. Fed matches up really well with him. I hope Raonic wins on Sunday. It would be good to have someone new come though.
She's been GOAT, but the numbers back it up now. If she would have had the focus in her youth that she has now, she would have closer to 30 championships.
All this chatter about bathroom breaks is funny. If they put the john on the court that would be an awesome social experiment, as in, one person trying to go with 30k people right next door waiting for you and possibly chanting. At their age, and energy use, there's little need for a bathroom, but emergencies do happen. I think u gotta let them go when it's time to go. But in no other sport does this seem to be such a public issue. They should probably give these guys a halftime of some sort.
Wow...what a boring men's final. I was hoping Raonic improved his game enough to give Murray a challenge, but the result was pretty predicable. It feels strange not seeing Fed, Djokovic, or Nadal playing for a title.
Yeah, I'm not sure what the big deal is. Wimbledon matches tend to move quicker than at other majors because the points are generally shorter on the grass surface, but still, these guys are out there for hours on end with no real extended breaks. If they need to take five minutes to go to the bathroom (or even just to get off the court and collect themselves, for that matter), let them. I guess the argument from the old school tennis establishment is that the grind of a long match is part of the challenge of winning matches at majors, and therefore a long bathroom break allows a longer break than the format was designed to give. I'm of the opinion that there should be a more extended break between sets anyway. The level of physicality and skill in tennis is higher than it has ever been, and the format should reflect that. As far as the final goes, I wasn't too surprised by the outcome, although I did perhaps expect Raonic to take a set along the way, given how well he had played leading up to the final. Roanic lives off of getting free points on his serve, and Murray just doesn't give any up. Just about every serve came back to Raonic, and many of them came back with interest. The dramatic drop in velocity on Raonic's serve in the final versus in his previous couple of matches was a bit odd, though. That certainly played right into Murray's hand. As most probably are, I'm still bullish on Raonic winning majors. We saw what he can do when a field opens up a little bit, and as half of this current big four (Federer and Nadal) struggle with consistency, injury, and just general aging, he's going to be faced with more and more open draws as time goes on. At the very least, he's going to have plenty of chances.
She needs 2 more majors to tie the all time greatest Margaret Smith Court 24 then she will be the GOAT for sure .
