Manny the poster, why do you use that show-boating, prema-donna's name as your handle? If it wasn't a do-or-die situation I would have beamed him the next time up for his homerun strut and finger-pointing to the A's bench. I just can't stand the guy.
Then smack me on my ass and call me a Yankee. Seriously, I absolutely hate baseball. But playoff baseball is kinda exciting. I could care less about the A's or the Astros or Marlins, but its fun watching the Red Sox, Yankees, and Cubs.
I hate the Yankees, but the Red Sox can't beat them. I know the season series was close (10-9 Yanks), but Boston can't beat them when it matters.
Oh my gosh, Renee' and I both just spit our beers on the monitor. Hope to see you tomorrow night at BW3.
That was pretty pathetic. I would hope they bean him pretty good next year when they play again. I'm so sick of seeing that showboating crap in baseball.
I just love how in baseball, it's a no-no to showboat. In the NFL and NBA, it's ok... I could care less about "unwritten rules".
At least the Stros spend some money. I feel for the A's because even when they win, they don't spend. That is why baseball has lost its favor with me, as the disparity between payrolls continues to increase. It is ridiculous watching the yankees, braves, and whatever other three teams that decided to spend that year duke it out in the playoffs. It is like a seven team league. It is so boring, like watching the US basketball team in the olympics.
Just a guess based on the way things have been going so far: Game 1: Wakefield vs. Mussina Game 2: Lowe vs. Pettite (Lowe didn't pitch much tonight... started last Saturday) Game 3: Clemens vs. Pedro (the MUST-SEE Game of the series) Game 4: Wells vs. Burkett They might flip-flop Lowe and Burkett (Lowe is MUCH better at Fenway), but who knows...
Yea... that was getting pretty annoying... We all know Boston fans will be: a.) cheering if they're winning b.) sitting on their hands if its tense c.) acting like fools cause they're drunk. I dislike Fox's coverage with a passion. The worst is Jeannie "I don't know what a baseball is" Zelasko. I also dislike how they refuse to add a touch of drama by having a true intro to the game (ala Bob Costas narrative played with some awesome instrumental music)... they've got the Eminem remix version of "Dream on" with just flashy psychedelic "game 5" marquees scrolling across the screen... doesn't inspire much drama.
Seriously, I used to be a BoSox fan but if I have to see that Jillians shot one more time I am going to put on my A's hat.
They were sinkers that started inside and then curved back out over the plate. This pitch literally froze Melhuse and Terrance Long. Great win by the Sox. They've got their best chance ever to beat the Yankees in the playoffs.
DC, I had picked "Manny Ramirez" as my handle simply to identify myself as a Red Sox fan and because I couldn't really think of anything else. Yea, there are "unwritten" rules in baseball and what Manny did was show up the other team. Yea, he was frustrated and I think he did it more as an emotional reaction that he finally came through with a big hit; however, I am expecting payback by Oakland against him or someone else in a Boston uniform next season. Yea, those fans at Jillian's were annoying, but what about the Oakland idiots heckling Damian Jackson after he collided with Damon? That was pure classlessness on their part and thankfully they got ejected from the stadium. Oh and I agree about Zelasko not knowing anything about baseball, but damn, she has let her hair grow long and lightened it. She looks pretty good now!
Manny, weren't you predicting doom for the Sox after the A's went up 2 games to 0? Next time the Rockets are down by double digits at halftime, feel free to start a ZRB thread in the GARM forum.
Lowe must have great control. McCarver was apopleptic that they weren't intentionally walking batters to set up the DP. Lowe just gave them nothing over the plate to hit-- except those wicked called third strikes!!!
what are you talking about...the astros would have been good enough to win in the AL...how about when they won 102 in 98?? they clearly would have been better than the AL Central for many of those years...99 and 2000 in particular. only the 97 team was questionable, in my opinion.
