Choke City by the Bay. Another year and another gag job by the A's. 4 playoff appearances in a row. Have lost all 4 playoff appearances, despite leading each (or maybe it was just 3?), by losing 9 clinching games in a row!! 0-9 when it comes down to crunch time. Tying runs in scoring position with only 1 out and they don' get it done. Unfreakinbelievable. Anyway, for some reason, I found myself rooting for the Red Socks (MR should be happy). Against the Yankees, I will definitely be rooting for them!!
What a game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable. Manny and Pedro were unbelievable. Lowe - I've never seen a better pitch in my entire life than that inside fastball to Melhuse. Wow. Yankees Suck!!! Go Sox!!!
If the A's were in the NL, they probably would have a few NL pennants with this team. If the Astros were in the AL, they might not have ever sniffed the postseason for all these years. But still... you can't help but feel terrible for the A's.
Cowboy Up! (===) We Believe! Game One was a rollercoaster of death, followed by the removal of Lisa. Game Two was a wonderful game pitched by Wake thrown to waste. Game Three was one of the weirdest, greatest, wildest, up and down events I have ever gone to. Game Four was one of the most tiring and rewarding experiences I've ever had simply watching a game. Game Five was...........wow. And now it's party time. (=W=A=K=E=)
It'll be Wake vs. Moose in game 1. Moose will probably pitch in game 4 as well... in Fenway. I was at the near-perfect game he had there in 2001... unbelivable.
I was hopping to see a base hit, not because I am a fan of the A's but because it would have been an insane game....but they couldn't get nothing with a man on 3rd and 2nd. 2 K's to finish the game. Let's go Marlins!!!
Unbelievable. I have been a Sox fan since I was in junior high school. I still remember seeing Wade Boggs crying after Game 6 of the World Series - seeing that image through my own tears. Then I remembered seeing the Sox getting humiliated twice by the A's in '88 and '90. Then again by Cleveland in '95 and '98. 1999 was the cruelest year because Boston came back from an 0-2 deficit against Cleveland only to lose to those damn Yankees in the ALCS with every game, for the most part, being close. When the Sox came back to beat Milwaukee in that one game, when they beat the Phillies at the Vet in that make-up game and of course, the great come from behind win over Baltimore in September, I *knew* that this Boston team was different from all the other ones. Game 1 was one of the most devestating sports losses I have ever gone through. There was no way that Boston should have lost that game, but they did. After losing that Game 1 and considering the short turnaround for Game 2, I wasn't surprised that Boston lost that game. However, I knew that once the series went to Boston there would be no way that Oakland would close that thing out, at least not without a fight. Game 3 was exhilirating (sp?) and exhausting. It was a bizarre game, but when Trot hit that homer to win it, I had a feeling that they were going to win the series. Game 4 was one that I was dreading because John Burkett was starting. Yet, he was clutch for the most part and thanks to a lucky break in Hudson getting hurt, that was a game for the taking. Yet, it took some clutch hits from Nomie, Manny, and Ortiz off Foulke to win it. Then tonight's game...wow is all I can say. I felt pretty confident that Pedro would do better than Zito, simply because of Pedro's history in the playoffs and that Zito was pitching on 3 days rest for the first time ever. But Zito looked very, very good in the beginning. Pedro, for some insane reason, could not get Jose "F*cking" Guillen out and he was killing us. But Varitek and Manny (despite some shameful showboating) came through with some clutch homers and the 4-1 lead looked like one of 10 runs with Pedro pitching. But you had the scary collision between Damon and Jackson and Ted Lilly, Rincon, and Bradford shutting down the Boston offense. Pedro began to tire and that was when my worst nightmare happened....the Boston bullpen had to come in! But Alan Embree and Mike Timlin (who was a monster in this series) got the job done, setting it up for Scott Williamson. This guy had been magnificent the last 2 days, but he just didn't have it tonight. Fortunately, Grady Little had some balls about him and got him out of there after the 2nd walk. Then former closer Derek Lowe comes in and gets a ground out on a sacrifice bunt and 2 of the greatest called strikeouts I have ever seen against Melhuse and Long. In looking at the replay, D Lowe did look like he did some kind of motion around his crotch like the old D-Generation X of the WWF saying "Suck It!" to the A's, lol. At any rate, this was the greatest baseball playoff series that I have ever seen and yes the Yankees are on the horizon, but I want to not worry about that now and continue to celebrate this win.....WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and not only did oakland lose and blow 9 straight clinchers, but they got jobbed out of that interference game and by all rights should be in the alcs right now.
LOL. Did you not read the rule? It was a 2nd different type of obstruction. If Tejada hadn't been such a dumbass and assumed that he got home plate, then yeah he would have scored. However, he didn't know the rule and it cost him and the A's. Also, Eric "Blondie" or "I Desperately Need a Hair Cut" Byrnes should have been more concerned with touching home plate instead of applying forearm shivers to Jason Varitek. The A's had three chances to win one game. Losing Game 3 was bad for them, but hey they still could have won Game 4 or Game 5. After all, the world according to Tim Hudson said that you take Barry Zito over Pedro Martinez any day.
I'm pretty close to going for the Yankees. Just to see a certain poster freak out when his team loses and someone has the nerve to have an opposing opinion from him.
BTW, after reading Manny's unnecessarily rude response posted at the same time as mine, I hereby remove the from my post.
