I think if you'd heard we signed Nene, Anderson, and Gordon for the total price tag we have on hand, you'd think Morey did okay, given the cards we're dealt.
He has done okay. He didn't get a sit down with Durant and it wouldn't have matter if he did. He got a sit down with Horford and finished in the top 3 for his services. He made a large offer to Bazemore but finished second, as the Hawks decided to match the Rockets offer. Honestly, they got the best of the available players, and got players that will give effort and have a chance to exceed their past production in this system. The fit is good. People are used to getting Harden and Howard the last 4-5 years and expected it was a given to get another star. The reality is that the circumstances in the game have changed and the amount of teams flush with money increased. Before the Rockets were competing for Howard against 4-5 other teams...... with Horford there have been reports that over a dozen teams expressed a willingness to give him a max contract.
How can anyone complain about this? A high character veteran back up big for $3 mil is a good deal. I swear they need to implement an IQ test before giving people the ability to leave comments here.
Good player in Dan's system. Good Locker Room Presence. A guy who will grind it out with the likes of PBev nightly.
no; that's realism. There is a difference between being a hater and typing out harsh truths, and no one should be under any illusions that we are contending this year. Our ownership and management have decided that they are happy just being "competitive" rather than rebuilding. That said, everyone should be supportive of this signing because it's reasonable, it helps us in the short term, and doesn't hurt us in the long term.
Serviceable and cheap. Based on the moves were making I'd say this is what rebuilding will be for us until if/when Harden is out. Getting quality guys to compete while getting ready to trade. Wouldn't be surprised if we pull a big move in December or February.
