and I will be honest even if you all here hate me.
If I was only a Rockets fan right now and not also of a rebuilding team, I would stop watching the NBA for at least 1 year.
    What's the point?

Actually there were plenty of people that thought LeBron should have left Cleveland and compared it to what the Wolves did with Garnett all those years.

Basically the T'wolves wasted that man's prime years doing nothing to better the team and also Gilbert's letter didn't really help the Cavs get any sympathy.

But once again, this idea that people will forget is just not true. The greatest player to ever play didn't win the most championships. The idea that championships all that matters is wrong. No one thinks like this. People rate HOW they were won as well and do it in every sport. Just look at Lionel Messi.

Winning like this is very much like losing your virginity to a hooker. That was the best explanation of it I've seen.

No just looking for excuses. KD was fine all year.

Yes and Lebron made a whole show about it and people didn't like that.

But this situation still not comparable. So I don't know why some are trying to compare the reaction when the situation itself is not comparable.

There has never been an MVP caliber player joining a rival contending team in his prime. It has never happened.

Nice. Would NOT have received that criticism coming to Houston.

Keep believing that. Can you name a superstar - in any sport - that people look back on and point out the flaws to their legacy (on court/field) instead of just remembering the greatness? It just doesn't happen.

If he wins 3 rings and is a dominant player, he'll be remembered for it. No one will care that he played with other great players. It's just not the way legacies are written.

He's an absolute coward. So if you can't beat them, you join them? Wow, just wow. Some lame so-called superstar he is.

I will root for any team that k picks that coward out of the playoffs next year.

You can care all you want - that's up to you. I just think it's amusing that you think HE should care what you think and that he should make life decisions based on that.

Yes, KD is in his right to choose whatever team he wants. However, if you're a basketball fan, this is probably the worst outcome.

Look, he'll always be a HOF player but you are missing the point.

He won't be compared to Jordan, Lebron, Hakeem, Kareem, Bird, Magic, etc.

Also, yes I can. In many sports. Lawerence Taylor, Barry Bonds, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Charles Barkley...I don't know where you get the idea that every legacy is just peach fuzz nostalgia.

This is a dark spot on his legacy. Can he fix it? Yes, he signed a one year deal and he has 3 days to change his mind ala DeAndre Jordan...

As it stands now this is a dark spot on his legacy. He's too scared to bet on himself.

Even Alex Kennedy said a bunch of NBA players tweeted him "SMH" afterwards.

Again, that's a bunch of fans thinking they are more important than they are. Just because a fan posts something on social media doesn't mean players need to care about it.

hahaha who said he should make life decisions based on what I think???
But he will face the consequences and fan critisism and disgust of his decision as well the benefit.

As will the NBA. As will his pocket with his KD shoes.

You really love using the word 'revisionist history' too much. I don't fault him for leaving Cleveland. I fault him for manipulating the NBA and forming a super team. There is no revisionist history about that. That team was very good. I think you're the one trying to create a revisionist history by saying he wasn't running away and he didnt form a super team and his team was not very good.

Durant is completely different. This isn't about the Warriors. This is about Durant "losing his championship virginity to a hooker" for a couple years and then going off to some team to siphon quarter a billion in salary for the remainder of his career with no real intent to win.

who pays for the money to have the league in the first place?
Who do you think is the important here? The majority of bbal fans or a player?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Minimizing the importance of the whole NBA fanbase is asinine.

Wow... good for all GSW real and bandwagon fans. I though durant had a little more heart than that. I get leaving the thunder their front office is comical, but I just assumed he would head to the SAS at least there he would be on a superior team and would be the cornerstone surrounded by great pieces that won a title. To me going with GSW hes just hopping on stephs team for a ride to the title. NBA is becoming to lopsided and as a basketball fan its just no fun to watch unless 2 of about 8 teams are playing. Even worse the rockets are stuck in mediocrity for a while unless (crossing fingers morey pulls some monster trade) which I dont think we have the ammo for.

He wasn't being compared to any of those guys anyway because he has 0 rings.

In what way have those players' legacies been tarnished by their on the field decisions? Barkley was tarnished by not winning a ring - no one thinks less of him for demanding a trade to the Rockets to try to win one. Iverson, same thing - no ring. Kobe will be remembered a decade from now as one of the best players in NBA history. No one will think of the rape issue or his conflict with Shaq or anything else. Bonds is only tainted by off the field issues (steroids).

Some of these fans write for SB Nation and other news sources. You have no idea who you're talking to on the internet. The sentiment malakas expressed is the popular opinion right now and that matters in the social media world right now. How fans feel matters, I'm sorry that comes as a shock to you.

LOL. Keep believing that KD should live his life to make fans happy. If fans don't like that players make decisions for themselves instead of to make you happy, they can choose not to watch. Seems like a win-win for both them and the players.
