If he goes to GSW, who is their competition in the west? OKC was the biggest threat, but they are neutered without Durant. San Antonio is great, but they continue to get older and didn't add anyone of note. They've already won the west the past 2 years, and no western team has made major strides forward.
This is r****ded. If it's between Thunder and Warriors. Just stay with Thunder. It won't be fun anymore if you go to the Warriors.
It was just a fan's wish. GSW is strong too but the grinding in the WC during the regular season is intense.
Right but if he goes to the Warriors there will be a significant backlash and his overall place in the history of the game will fall. People will be like Durant chose the easy way out and rode the coattails of one of the best teams in league history to a championship. He will also be 2nd fiddle to Curry and it will not be his team. At Boston, he has the chance to create a legacy in one of the best sport cities in the US as the main man and lead guy. Celtics will be his Durant's team
Nonsense. Does anyone look at Lebron today and think of that anymore? If he's the 3rd guy on the team, sure, people will look at him less. But if he's the #1 scorer, no one will say he rode any coattails. Besides, who's to say he even cares what a bunch of other people think of him? Maybe he just wants to win. Or wants to try to make history and go 82-0.
LeBron was the undoubted #1 guy both at the Heat and Cavs. Both those teams were not in the same stratosphere as GSW are now prior to Bron joining them. They were his teams. If he just wants to win a championship as the #2 or #3 guy at GSW, more power to him. Having watched Durant all these years, he does want to be seen as one of the best. Maybe things have changed off late in his thought process and he just wants to ring. But make no mistake if he goes to GSW and wins a ring, it will tarnish his legacy and Durant is very aware of what others think of him and sensitive at times. You just have to see his backclashes on twitter and media to notice that.
I hope Durant goes to golden state now. Then I won't feel too bad about the rockets being mediocre for the next 3 years. No team is winning the title other than GS.
But the comparison is not winning a ring at GSW or winning a ring at OKC/Boston. It's winning several rings and being on the all-time great teams at GSW vs hopefully winning a ring at OKC/Boston. Even assuming he cares more about his legacy than anything else, does he have a better legacy winning 3 rings as part of the GSW quartet, or none with Boston?
