Wtf get over this rubio fetish lol everyone wants a pg that will give the defense an advantage. If a shooting guard is about to take is job thats a red flag

It's not a fetish for me, thought do think he is one of the more entertaining players in the league.

Rubio needs shooters to be effective. We now have shooters. It's not more complicated than that.

I know the flaws of plus/minus but it's one of the better raw stats we have. By that measure, Rubio is #17 in the league...one spot below Harden. I do think Harden is a vastly superior player, but Rubio is certainly not a scrub.

I'd also point out the alternatives. Right now, it's pretty much Llull or Rubio. All the other options have committed to big contracts outside our price range. I do not have a problem with prioritizing Llull over Rubio, but we need to be looking at multiple options.

Payne doesn't count coz he's a scrub that will be out of the league very soon. Probably wont' get 2nd contract by anyone. And KG also hardly counts.

That's mainly posturing. Since Collison will be at the very least suspended for many games at the start of the season.

That's the smart way to look at it but you might have to look at it through the eyes of an infant who has been slung against the pavement in order to really get inside the head of the Sacramento front office. Honestly collision doesn't have to play at all because the kings have been wanting to try out 5 v 4 for a while now

True, 3 centers btw, if they don't see Dieng as a 4...?

Dieng can play the 4 on offense and play 4/5 on defense. Minnesota started Dieng and Towns together last season after the all star break.

Rondo can contribute in the right situation and when motivated.

    Rubio sucks at basketball.

If we really wanted to "win-now", we should have snatched up Rondo. Not that this team can contend, but it's actually quite dangerous

    Rondo
    Gordon
    Harden
    Anderson
    ?/Capela

Well I absolutely hated Rubio before FA started. But with the shooters we recently acquired and the obvious direction of the team I would take a shot on RR as long as Bev and Ariza don't get dealt for him.

I would do any combination of
Harrell,Brewer,KJ,This years picks, Beas or Dekker.

Just put it this way guys....

Rubio gets paid as much as Jeremy Lin over the next 3 years.

For the best defensive PG in the league. High character guy, still only 25. Has been improving his shot. rebounds well for his position, does all the little things..

It's a no brainer. and lol at you guys who prefer Rondo over Rubio.

I'll take Rubio and Pekovic and call it a day.

I'd even do Rondo and Ezeli if we can make that work.

I think the following are facts about Rubio....

    1. He doesn't finish at the rim very well.
    2. He doesn't shoot the three pointer well.
    3. He rebounds well for his position.
    4. He is an elite defensive point guard. His physical range allows for him to be both super disruptive and to collect steals.
    5. He is an elite passer with elite court vision.
    6. He will make Harden, Gordon, Anderson, Motiejunas, Capela and everyone else in our lineup better on both ends.

People are too in love with this idea of Rubio being terrible offensively. I don't look at stats. I know Bev shot 40% from three point land but I also know that Rubio is a far better offensive PG. More of a cumulative thing but just what we need.

Ask yourself why Ty Lawson failed besides sobriety? Even though he always had high assist numbers, he is actually a shoot first PG. Rubio is the opposite. He creates more efficient shots for those around him.

In a perfect basketball world you would be absolutely right. If the Rockets were to get Rubio it would just make next season even more of a gamble but at this point I would roll that dice.

However this thing falls apart real quickly if Rubio isn't the primary ball handler for nearly the entire time when he's on the floor, otherwise he's more useless than Lawson in what we are trying to do offensively. Otherwise things can get a bit fun with lineups:

    Rubio/KJ
    Gordon/Harden/KJ
    Harden/Ariza/Beasley
    Anderson/Harrell/Beasley
    Capela/DMo?/Harrell

Even though you are somewhat vouching for a Rubio experiment I can tell you still don't understand what Rubio brings to the table on the offensive end. I'm sorry but 95% of posters here simply don't understand Rubio's offensive game. You just don't see it.

I'm hoping we get him so you can see it.

For us to win a championship we cannot be Harden-centric. If we stay in this mode we will constantly be disappointed.

Rubio is the grease. He's the guy that makes everything work offensively and would make every other offensive player on the floor, including Harden, so much better.

Rubio played off the ball quite a bit in 2013-2014 and last season. He can play off the ball (he had a catch and shoot 3 pt game winner vs OKC Thunder this season) but he's much much better with the ball though.

We need shooters everywhere for Rubio to work here.

I'd suggest we trade for Covington. He's a big 3 / small 4 that plays solid defense. When Harden sits, we can roll out this lineup...

    Rubio
    Gordon
    Covington
    Anderson
    DMo

That group may get killed on D, but they will score at an elite level.

People in love with the Rubio idea seem to be forgetting a very important and simple fact; Harden is our primary ball handler. Rubio is far too ****ty a shooter, a finisher, and a scorer in general to serve primarily off ball. If Harden was willing to play off ball, he would have done it already. That's not his game though, at least not anymore. When we talk about fit on our team, Rubio is definitely not a fit. We really need to be looking for a SG who can defend PG's.
