Ok folks, I have a serious question for you all. Why is it that Madden can include all these historic teams to play with, yet NBA Live only has the current rosters. I know they include the team of the 90's, 80's, etc. but I want to play as the 93-94 Rockets and the 94-95 Rockets. This really upsets me because I loved those teams and i know if they were matched up against any of those Bulls teams from the 90's the Rox would woop their a**!
Not sure if this belong here...... but just for discussion. I think it's a totally seperate team for the 2 games. The Madden is the best out of all major ones and the Triple Play was bad enought that they just shut it down. It's now under a different name. Madden is amazing, from the franchise mode down. NBA live just doesn't have what it takes.
2004 is gona be awesome, I saw the trailers and they roxors! AI has increased significantly making the game very realistic! 8 days and counting... I just cant wait. I played 1999, 2001 and 2003. 2003 was a bit cartoonish and the blocks were just too unrealistic (a swat out of bound everytime!) But I have very high hopes for NBA 2004. At the moment I also have NHL 2004 but Im dissapinted by the product. Actually, I live 5 mins away from EA Studios in Burnaby, BC and have a friend who works as a game tester there, what a lucky bumb.
I am a big fan of the NBA 2K series. I have played all of them since they started with 2K and plan on buying 2K4. The game play is very realistic and fun. It has a franchis mode as well. I read somewhere that this one will have classic teams but I am not sure if they wowuld have the Rockets on there. Madden is overated. You can stop a team for 3 downs and then all of a sudden the running back will run 40 yards or the QB will complete a 60 yard pass and get a first down but it is the best out of what is out there for football.
I'm a 2K guy, but I'll buy both again this year. Last year Live made some strides, but 2K3 was definitely better. In any case, the Madden series has been around longer and is the biggest sports game by far. I'm sure that Madden is the #1 priority at EA. Video game basketball will hold me over until the real season starts.
See I always thought that NBA2K3 was better than NBALIVE. But now NBA2K is called ESPN Basketball, and i noticed that they dont have the new rockets uniforms nor the new arena on ESPN BASKETBALL. Also NBALIVE04 comes out this wednesday. Go to gamestop and reserve or pickup a copy wednesday. Anyways, i think im going to go ahead and go with NBALIVE04 this year, hopefully it will live up to its hype.
I thought that Live wasn't out til 10/14? Also, I'd be surprised if Sega doesn't have the new uniforms/arena considering it's coming out after Live this year.
This the wrong forum, but.....NBA live 2004 has been looking better and better as I wait for it to be released. I saw a clip where they had The Rockets vs Kings in the Toyota Center. The gameplay looks awesome. I saw a player tip the ball then dived for it and made a pass sitting on his butt. I dunno too much about ESPN basketball, but LIVE just look too good to pass up this year if you into bball video games. Rockets preseason about to start and Live is coming out in a week. I'm about to be in basketball heaven If anyone is interested go to www.operationsports.com for nice gameplay footages for NBA live 2004.
I really hope they fixed the flawed gameplay in Live. Live2003 was a good looking game, but I have gotten to the point where I dont want to play it anymore because the damn game makes me miss like 10 dunks/layups in a row in order to let the opponent catch up....what ticks me off about those misses is that i was wide open.
Well i picked up a gameinformer a couple of days ago, and it seems that all the reviews, they have ESPN BASKETBALL on top of all catagories. Graphics, Gameplay, and online play. ESPN gets all 95s as of NBA LIVE gets 90. Im going with ESPN BASKETBALL. But im gonna make sure they have the new Rockets Uni's on it. If not,ill go with LIVE.
NBA Live sucks. They put Hakeem in the 80s stars, not the 90s. He should be in both.. They should have bumped Ewing off the 90s roster for him.. or Robinson..
Remember KBtoys has 30% off from the 8th to the 14th. Live releases the 14th so according to the lawsuit against KBtoys they will have to sell LIVE 2004 for 30% off
I'm not sure if anyone answered the original question about the historic teams, but here's the answer. Live's creator said he wanted to put all of the old championship teams in the game, but there were too many contract/money issues to work out with the players from the past (same reason Jordan was never in video games until recently). It really pisses me off that some of these players could be so stuck up that they won't even let themselves be put in video games without being payed. I would LOVE it if someone wanted to imortalize me in a video game!
ESPN basketball looks great too, but i heard this year, game play belongs to NBA live. And based on what I've seen, it looks really good. I guess we won't know until they both come out.
Apparently some stores have already started honoring the 30% off, but it does not apply to video games or consoles.
This would make sense given past history. Live is more popular and gets all the hype, but last year Sega's game was much better. I'd be surprised if it's any different this year. In any case, I'm going to buy both and report back.
Class Notice says it should on all items of 30$ or more. It doesn't say anything about video games or electronics. Hmmm...not following class suit? lawsuit in the making
If you like to hold speed burst, and run like a chicken with its head cut off and eventually dunk the ball, then NBA Live is the game for you. Especially if you don't care to play defense.
Does anyone know if 2k4 will be made for Gamecube, I just haven't found anything confirming or denying this.
