Anderson is for sure better than williams on the offensive end.

Where are you getting the last 2 years team option part? David Aldridge said all 4 years are guaranteed.

Anderson was a 17 and 6 player last year. Defenses will have to respect his 3 point shooting thereby stretching the field for other players.

I like this signing. The salary is wholly irrelevant in this insane market. Either you play the game or stay in a corner sulking it.

MDA has had good defensive assistants before but they never helped his teams. The Rockets defense was never going to be top shelf with MDA as coach. Many of us said that the second he was hired.

That won't matter all the times when Anderson is injured. And even when he's not, it still won't matter if we can't stop anyone.

I know people were complaining that Dwight Howard wasn't always trying on the defensive end. But our defense was awful last year and we replaced 3 time DPOY (granted a long time ago) Howard with Ryan freakin Anderson.

I'm a huge rockets fan. I am and always will be. But they sure are trying to test my fandom this off-season. First they hire no D Antoni and now we sign no D, often injured, overrated streaky shooter Ryan Anderson? Not just for 20 million a year? But 20 million a year for 4 years?

    Man this is frustrating

In a James harden offense we need shooters and defense. Marvin Williams is far superior on defense and is a knock down shooter. I'd have liked him

    We're so ****ed, albatross contract.

This guy does not have 4 years (hell, even one) of $20 mil production left in the tank. These overpays are gonna look so bad in a few years once the whole league catches up to the cap.

sure so you have a coach that even with good defensive players he has bad defence. And you go and pay horrible defensive players on top of that for what?
To have one of the worst defence in the league?

And on top of that they are both injury prone. Congratulations. What a masterplan.
Let's double down in our bad defence. Let's make it horrific.

Well deserved at this point. This type of contract is why the NBA added an amnesty a few years back it's too bad they won't be adding another any time soon.

The problem with Anderson isnt his shooting. We all love that. The problem is that he is a piss poor defender and isnt positionally versatile. This dude can only play the 4. To get any sort of value out of this guy we have to play him 25+ but really prolly 30 + min a game.

Thats 30 min of awful defense at the 4 and no where else we can stick his shooting. I prefer DMO even with the health concerns.

I see andersons best role as coming off the bench at the 4 and maybe playing 20 min a game. We massively overpaid. Best case for Anderson is to lose weight gain some lateral quickness and try to play some 3. IF he can do that ill think its an OK move.

Listen, just because the cap rises that doesn't mean you have to pay 4 whole years to someone.
Especially if they are injury prone as Gordon and Anderson.
It's better to have small one year deals to lesser players to open again capspace for NEXT offseason that the Free agency class is ten times better.
But now? We will carry those contracts for 4 years.

It's better to give smaller deals to better fit roleplayers even if they aren't great scorers.

Not every new deal this summer will be one of the worst. But THIS will be. Incredibly injury prone player gets 20 per for 4 years. Ball stopper and horrible defender. Doestn' know when to stop shooting.

He had only the Kings wanting him except us.

he's never even shot 44% from the field once in his career. he's shot more than 40% on 3's just once, in a season where he played just 22 games. and the best thing is, in the playoffs his percentages all drop precipitously!
