I have actually flown the Japan-L.A.-Houston flight a couple times. Japan to L.A. is about 18 hours (long ass flight), then from L.A. to Houston is about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. It really is a long flight, I usually sleep the entire way, I wonder what Yao will be doing.

20 hours on a plane and then he'll be greeted with camera flashes and the mob of media. Doesn't sound like fun.

Are you sure media will greet him at the airport? I thought maybe not many, since Yao Ming is no longer a mystery to local Houston media.

Does anyone know if Yao Ming will move closer to the new arena? I read somewhere that his current home has a good distance from Toyota center, which means the commute will use a lot of time. Jeff Van Gundy expressed such a concern.

Wouldn't it be great to witness a Rockets carpool.

    Yao: "Shotgun"

Cat: "No Yao, you have to see the car."

    Yao: "That's not the rule."

    Cat: "Ya it is"

Yao: "Fine then, I call window seat."

Mo: "DAMNIT, I HATE SITTING b****!"

Definitely not sure, but I figured there would be a lot of media there since he hasn't been in the states for months. Anyone else have any thoughts?

He's here and yes the media (sports reporters) mobbed him right as he stepped out of the terminal.

I already saw pictures of Yao arriving in Houston on the 6pm local Sports coverage and getting into a limo. He signed a few autographs, looked real tired from the long flight.

Should be lots of media coverage on late local TV stations about Yao's arrival.

And Nachbar lives in Montrose, I believe. Saw him at Kroger's recently -- with his brother. (Sorry, Tracy.) Nachbar has very thin legs, a thin frame, and an unexpressive look on his face when he's picking fruit.

Who hoooo!!!! He's here! Well, not here. I live in New York. It would be very bad if he was here.

Sorry, too much caffeine. Just giddy that the season is just two breaths away.

By the way, "unexpressive look on his face when picking fruit" is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.

Not to mention I think Patrick Ewing and Tim Duncan may also be offended by that statement. ;)

Kind of cool the Rockets now have/have had 3 #1 overall picks that were foreign-born in Hakeem Olajuwon, Yao Ming, and Patrick Ewing.

uhh more like the columnist's parade. just pointing out that he was wrong and that a legend on our very own team was foreign born and selected #1 as well.
