All these free agents of quality and we are talking about Burke and Jack.....gonna be a long year. DD
You want to have a 6 man rotation? We still need to build a team. If you want to pay to get the big names, you'll have to cut down elswhere. People want to get the max guys, most of which arent pgs, AND still sign more costly pgs..not happening. Gotta explore trade options and find cheap players at these back up spots that can still help and wont be glued to the bench bc of inexperience.
backup pg or split pg minutes with bev if we keep him. but then we'd need a frontcourt player who can pass.
I think your first sentence shows enough evidence to suggest Burke is going to be a bad choice for the Rockets.
Dmo and Onuaku can pass...that's a start. Like who? The question isn't if there are better back ups out there...there are, but who can we actually get? And at what cost? Trading > using up cap space on back ups.
Brewer for Burke straight up works. I would throw in a future 2nd or something if we could be rid of Brewer's salary Acquiring Burke isn't a great move, but it allows us to move Beverley and still have a somewhat experienced PG on the roster. D'Antoni is my least favourite coach in a long time, but even a hater like me acknowledges that the one thing he seems to do well is get the most out of crappy points guards. If he can get fatty Felton to an 18 and 9 season, I imagine he could get Trey Burke to post 13-5 on decent shooting numbers. For mine, getting rid of Brewer and Beverley ASAP is a crucial part of this off-season. Free that space to offer 2 max contracts, and replace them on the cheap. Burke is about Beverley level.
This guy had "peaked in college" written all over him, and still does. Pass. Then again, we have a GM who took Sam Dekker.
I like Trey Burke for the right price. It will be interesting to see what Utah wants in return for him. Th have 2 better players in front of him in their mind at least so he's on sale. I'd rather get for one of or bench warmers or for Sam Dekker for example tan Jeremy Lin for 12 million dollars. Lin better player but Burke better value for his cost, IMO opinion Morey will be thinking this way all offseason unless we sign KD and honestly folks he can join a 73 and 67 win teams why would he choose the 41 win team instead?

I'd take a flyer on Burke for a second round pick but Morey must be hording the capspace for something else.
son of a b****, a decent expiring backup PG making 3 mill for a second rounder and we didn't get in on that action?? All we got is Beverley at the point right now, literally no one behind him unless your penciling the un-drafted soon to be Vipers star Gary Payton. Really curious to see what we do with the backup PG position.
I am shocked that the Cavs and the Rockets didn't get involved and let freaking GRUNFELD do that trade. Sorry but this past month isn't normal Morey GM behaviour.
the 2nd rounder was in 2021. Not some high second next year or anything. So basically he was traded for free.
