Is the part/ free agent bus still happening- didnt we use a bus to meet with Bosh on first day of free agency and other agents

Who's door are we knocking at on July 1st???

a little disappointing that we have not secured a meeting with any top level players.. Well atleast no media has picked up

I think the Rockets should skip a Durant meeting if granted.. he will never come here..

Its a waste of time.. We need to go for the players we have a shot at (for the moment it looks like noone wants to play for the Rockets :(

Stein was on the Zach Lowe's podcast, here's my weak J.R. impression on their discussion about the Rockets and KD:L

    - Rockets are reeling, wanting to be in the KD sweepstakes.
    - Rockets have been planning for the KD sweepstakes since at least 2014, when it was a factor in the Chandler Parsons decision
    - Stein: At this point, the rockets do not have a face-to-face meeting, didn't make the list of teams, must be tough to swallow as the organization.
    - Harden is likely still working it, trying to get a meeting.

FWIW, it was just Stein and Lowe musing about the situation, never did they say that they had knowledge from sources. It was speculation based on it being reported we're not on the list.

    Other Rockets Mentions:
    - Rockets have "Mike Conley interest" - Zach Lowe saying that it struck him as odd for the Rockets to go after a ball dominant PG next to Harden.
    - Discussed that they expect Rockets to, as always, be aggressive. Morey has a plan a, b, c, all the way through Z and he moves quickly between scenarios.
    - Lowe shared his opinion on the Rockets outlook - that Capela is ready to step in to Dwight's minutes and if he's decent ("he will be") and have a couple of guys to mesh with Harden, they won't be as much of a disaster as people are expecting. As long has harden is on the team, will be competing.

Stopped listening after Rockets talk because i'm really not a stein fan.

Durant wants to wake up Rockets fans from pipe dream.

I think we should thank him, and switch our focus on other FA ASAP.

What, you're not a Mavs or frontrunner-team jock-sniffer like Stein?

You have to give Stein credit, though (warning! college-educated white-trash comment approaching): He's very eloquent despite Mark Cuban's **** in his mouth. Must be all the practice.

Dallas Stein was probably grinning and rubbing his hands while throwing Rockets shade.

    - Rockets are reeling, wanting to be in the KD sweepstakes.
    - Stein: At this point, the rockets do not have a face-to-face meeting, didn't make the list of teams, must be tough to swallow as the organization.

You could hear an uptick in his voice, like he was excited and ready to go into it.

How could Chandler Parsons decision two years ago be connected to this? Even had they agreed to match Chandler and Chandler decided not to opt out so would still be on the books.... They'd still have enough money to pursue KD... As basically everyone does.

    Stein is a moron.

Not if Dwight opted in and also isn't his hold on the books until he signs elsewhere?

Here's my (what I think realistic) theory on the situation based on all the info that has and hasn't come out:

    - Harden and KD meet in AZ. My guess is that KD tells him what he thinks the Rockets need to do to be considered.

    - Clearly, if Houston was unequivocally out of it, KD would have told Harden. Harden and the Rockets wouldn't still be talking about KD.

    - Harden, at media availability during his kids camp, says he's in Houston to take a major role in recruiting. Mentions he wants to try to recruit KD and talks about being focused on being a part of free agency, trying to get guys in Houston.

    - All the mentions from the press are that the rockets our "currently" not being considered. Even today, Stein said "at this point" the rockets are not in it. They make the Rockets sound as out as possible without going so far as to definitively say that we're fully out.

My guess is that certain people in the Rockets know what KD needs to see in order to have a shot, and they're currently working on it (obviously without tampering). That's why harden is in Houston now focusing on free agency, and it's why haven't fully given up hope. IF you hear if the Rockets ultimately getting a meeting, it means that there's confidence that something else is lined up.

    ("delusional homer" out)

A lot of folks mention this, but really, even if you know you're out you want to save face with the fans. At least let them know you tried. I don't think you can go from 0 to 100. Supposedly LA almost signed with Phoenix last year, so I suppose there is always hope.

this makes sense. Given our current roster, of course we aren't in the conversation for KD; not unless we make some major moves. The fact that we haven't yet is probably why Houston still isn't in the mix. If we pull off a big trade, it will be interesting to see if that changes. But until then, i don't see an incentive for KD to look Houston's way.

This deserves another read in my opinion:
    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...ericks-stole-chandler-parsons-houston-rockets

Written by of all people Marc Stein. It details how KD was in our plans when dealing with Parsons. (And Parsons & Howard)

I love how the title is "How the Mavs Stole Parsons from the Rockets" and now he's trying to leave because they won't offer him the max after 2 disastrous, injury-riddled years with him.

But Stein is right, the Rockets have been planning for this moment for 2 years. I have been anticipating this moment for 2 years. Actually, I've been anticipating his moment ever since KD wore burnt orange. I've always said I would sell the entire farm for that man. Stein is truly wearing his Cuban-commissioned Rocket hate on this sleeve. He doesn't even bother disguising it. And then the entire media repeats his report like its canon.

Harden will be in his ear often. We already know he was in his ear early. Like, the earliest. Hopefully Beasley will be in his ear too. "Come on, Kevin, let's win it for Big Chucky."

But look how Stein & Co talk about the Knicks and Atlanta now. These guys get clicks hyping other teams chances and dogging ours.

Why is it almost 100% of the time after the dust has settled, the true story is always wildly different from what was being purported as solid info?

    A likely scenario.

It basically comes down to Houston needing to get a "commit" from Al Horford early in FA to get KD to come to the table. Much like the Suns/Tyson Chandler situation last year with LMA.

I am not holding out hope on that....but that's probably the bottom line.

The fact they haven't yet is because free agency hasn't started yet. Houston's work will be done in free agency, not trade. They have very little assets to work with, especially for a "game changer" that would make Durant look their way.

They have the hard task of reeling in one of Conley, Horford or Whiteside (let alone getting a meeting with any of them). Then the harder task of getting Durant to look their way.
