Well then argue with JVG. He himself said yao got enough touches but yao passed it back too much.

    Wonderful argument!

Coachspeak should be used as evidence of actuality... well, never. Unless the coach has retired. And has been retired for at least 5 years. And is over 70 and very unlikely to ever return.

What do you expect him to say? "Yeah, our idiot guards couldn't find our 7'6 center with a telescope?" Yeah right. He's not going to alienate his star PG beyond repairing before the season even starts.

Wait and see. If Yao gets the ball a lot more under JVG, the odds are pretty high he thought it didn't happen enough last year.

Like Calvin Murphy said, "All roads must go through Yao, there's a new sheriff in town". There's a reason why everyone wants the ball in Yao's hands. He creates opportunities for other players with his excellent passing skills and high basketball IQ. He understands the concept of the game and thinks team first.

Kind of conclusory, don't you think?

If most of us believed he looked anything like a future HoF right now, perhaps we would show him more respect.

If Francis ever irons out the flaws in his game... sure, he's a sure-fire HoFer. But he's old enough that such does not appear as inevitable as it once did.

Since the fact that we have a 7'5" freak of nature that has skills guards would die for........and oh by the way he can do everything on the court

Memo to Steve.....you are still the man on this team.....just run the offense though YAO....your game will not suffer...he will make your life a hundred times easier and hide your point guard defienciencies at the same time

My argument is only that the more Steve thinks he's god's greatest gift since Magic on the offensive end, the more he fails to recognize he's one of the worst on the ball defenders in the league. Just because someone can do something doesn't mean they should.

Remember last season Steve hardly ever was the one to pass into Yao Ming![check the video] The ability of Steve to get the ball to the Big Man in a scoring position is still in question. If JVG decides to develop the Rockets playing the Big Man's game as opposed to the Guard oriented game then the Steves inability to play the traditional Point Guard Position will be emphasized. This could mean that the mid season roster upgrade might be for a Point Guard.

Just out of curiosity, did you see what JVG had to say about this? He said Yao got plenty of touches, but was out of position when he received them (couldn't hold his position).

Also playing the big man's game is going to depend on the big man getting and maintaining low post position consistently - something that JVG decided didn't happen in the second half of the year after watching the video tape.

Man this is how Francis gets a bad rap by people. People take something that Francis says and completely turn it upside down. If you are going to quote someone, say exactly what they said. I saw that statement last night on the news that you are referring to. Francis said that when the Rockets LOSE, his name will be in the paper and he turned around and showed the back of his jersey to show his name. He said it is ok cause he is ready for that responsibility. Please stop HATING on Francis. Stop misquoting him and trying to make him look bad.

I think what scares Francis is that...

If the team does good this season, Yao will get the credit. People will say "the team never did good til Yao came, blah blah blah"

But if the team does bad this season, Francis will be bashed for it. People will say "he's no leader, we need to trade him"

Steve is in the unfair position of having to take all the negative heat, while watching Yao get all the praise. I don't blame him for being defensive, and it really, really isn't fair to him the way he's getting treated.

If the team does good, I'm giving credit to the WHOLE TEAM, and if the team does bad, the WHOLE TEAM gets the heat for it. I appreciate what Francis has done for the team and I'm not gonna take any credit away from him.

If what you say is true, then he really does suck at leadership. A good leader will give the rest of the team credit for their success and his and will accept all the responsibility if they are a failure. A great leader makes his worst teammates better and gives them the confidence to hit shots and play D in the clutch. A player worrying about getting all the blame and not enough credit is selfish and far from leadership material. Remember Magic, Larry, Michael????

i guess you dont know its either yaos team or steves team:rolleyes:

the steve haters will say that he is the only reason we didnt make the playoffs... its so sad... all you haters out there are trying to make a rift between steve and yao... we need both of these guys if we want to do anything make the playoffs, and we need the whole team if we want to win it all. that is the truth.

Moreover, I'd rather have a 5-10 ft shot, than a 20 ft jumper off the dribble.

he can do everything??? like maybe get into better post up position, because last year he didnt do that too much, or maybe go up for rebounds, he didnt do that too much.

yao is good, and yes a freak, but he is not the best(well not yet). he still has a lot to learn, just like steve. and if you think yao can do everything why didnt he finish strong instead of looking tired? why couldnt he just dunk the ball instead of trying to finesse it? why couldnt he use his size to his advantage more rather than be taken out of the post by guys shorter and lighter than him?

i can go on, but i hope you got my point.

steve does need to give the ball to yao more, but yao needs to be in better position when he gets the ball... it takes more than one man to win in this league. that goes for steve fans and yao fans.

OK, First of all...let me make this real simple..........I didn't say YAO was the BEST........Just that he is a freak without of this world skills....which you said is true so why are we even discusssing the point because you sais you agree

Second of all the reason he didn't get better post position, and finish strong was maybe because he was a chinese rookie in a new land learning a new culture, under continuous circus like media scrutiny, and tryin to get used to playin ball in the NBA which is 100% more difficult than any ball hes played in his entire life..........maybe some of that could be the reason, ya think

Lets see how this season starts and see if we see the same thing...as a matter of fact I'm willin to betn anything you want that it will be different:cool:
