Anyone looking for something to watch on TV this weekend should check out the NRL Grand Final being played in Australia.

It will be avalible live on Fox Sports World in the U.S. and in the UK Sky will have the game live as well.

The Sydney Roosters take on my team, the Penrith Panthers. The Panthers have gone from celler dwellers to the top of the pile in just two seasons.

The Roosters are the cashed up club from Sydneys eastern Suburbs. They buy premierships and are one of the least liked clubs in Australia.

The Panthers are from Sydneys west where its mostly working class. Its a side full of local tallent who grew up wanting to play for the panthers and who have done very well to get so far in such a short space of time. They dont get the recognition they deserve from the media and they go into the game as massive under dogs.

Truth be known, the Panthers are probably the richest club in Australia....but lets not ruin a good story! :)

It should be a great game anyway.

If you want a bit more info just go to http://www.nrl.com.au

    Oh....GO THE PANTHERS!!!!! :D

Tell the nurse to up your medication! :)

Union is as boring as watching grass grow. As for AFL....to many knock on's, forward passes and b**** fights. :D

I'll only watch gayFL if the swans are winning. Otherwise I'll stick to league.
    Victorians are fanatics anyway. :D

twhy77....what type of Rugby do you play.

In Australia the 13 man version of the game is the most popular by far. Good crowds, massive TV ratings. Its like our version of the NFL.

The 15 a side version has a strong core of support, but the general public doesnt know or care about it.

Take a look at http://www.amnrl.com and Im sure you'll be more then impressed.

Also have a look at this link and you can see what League is all about: http://www.nrl.com.au/fanzone/video.cfm?S=8&R=83&T=

In this game a player had staple punched into his head because he got a cut over his eye. The stapler broke and got stuck to his face.

Thats why League is the toughest game in the world. :)

I play 15's during the three seasons and 7's during the summer.

Collegiate level, its popular at my school, but I think thats just because we like to be different.

twhy77 go an have a look at the 13 a side version of the game. Its alot faster and exciting. You have to be a pretty good athlete to play it though.

If you get a chance watch that NRL Grand Final. Its probably on late Saturday/early Sunday in the U.S.

Its on Fox Sports World.....you WILL be impressed. :)

League fan suggests League, Union fan suggests Union... what a shock! :)

As a Union player, I'd have to say I find League dull to watch. But then you'll say the opposite.

Is there much (if any) AFL coverage in the States? Or anywhere else overseas?

I have Sky Sports, so I get the chance to watch Australian rugby League fairly regularly.

    Still find it dull. Sorry.

Ok, it ain't Aussie or nothin', but I have friends who are way into Irish Rugby, ( I like what little I've seen and I'm trying to catch up)so my question to those in the know is: What's the best league in Ireland? &/or what's the best team? Are there any "longer-running" greats or whatever?
