If they are in the West, they could easily be a low seed. That means having to beat 2 or even 3 great teams in a row. They barely beat the Warriors having to come back from 1-3 and having some fluke events happen (Green suspended, Bogut injured, Iguodala injured, etc.) that helped them to barely win. So they is a much higher chance of Cav (or ANY team for that matter) not making it to the finals from the West compared to the East. The 2nd best team in the East is Raptors. The might be the fifth or sixth best team in the West.
This is a pretty dumb argument. If the Cavs didn't win then sure you could say that if they had a low seed then maybe they wouldn't make it. But the Cavs ended up winning the entire freaking championship who cares if they're 8th seed in the West? They'd still end up beating everybody they come up against smh. Barely beat the Warriors? Well **** nobody else could beat the Warriors! Just stop trying to play down what Lebron and the Cavs accomplished this year. The Cavs came back from 3-1 to win the series! Can you name another team who win against the GSW Warriors 3 straight times? It doesn't matter where you put them they're gonna beat everyone.
I think you're not understanding the context of my comment. It was a response to someone saying that Lebron was helped being in the East and might not even make it out of the West. Even if you want to claim that the Cavs are as good as the Warriors, OKC, Spurs, etc. they only need to go up against ONE of that team and in the finals while the Western team has to go through at least 2-4 of such teams. I don't care which of the top teams you are. You're going to be much less likely to make it out of the West than the East. That's just an objective fact.
Excellent post! You articulated what I was thinking about Dream and his career. He was in beast mode from the get go. LBJ migrated to South Beach and joined a stacked team to win his first title. Dream had a stacked team early in his career on the verge of greatness that imploded due to basketball reasons. Given his talent, temperament and absolute will to win, it is easy to imagine how Dream would have accumulated a higher number of rings and play-off stats if the rosters surrounding him were comparable to LBJ, Timmy, MJ, Magic and Bird.
That's a terrible argument and you know it. Kyrie didn't make it because he was hurt and missed most of the first half of the season. That, and combined that there were many great PG's this year. Love was playing well up until his concussion, averaging like 17-9 as a third option. Both are multi-time All-Stars. Just because they didn't make it "this year" doesn't diminish their talent.
It definitely gives him more legitimacy, before this win I won't have put him in the top 5 at all. Now I think he has reached Bird Status. But not Michael or Magic status yet.
Strong case for second best player of all-time. Not likely to catch Jordan, as he is behind in both team success and statistical efficiency (mainly due to his inability to match Jordan's freakish combo of high usage/low turnovers). Only way for him to be GOAT would be for him to inexplicably continue playing near his current level until 40.
come on Kyrie is a star, he played like a superstar in the finals you can't deny that. Agree about Love though, the guy was a liability most of the series.
If you never complained about Magic's path to the Finals then I don't want to hear you complain about LeBron's. Rings are rings.
They played less against top teams in West in regular season, and none before the final in playoff. That's been the case in Lebron's whole career which coincidences with a period of historically strong west and weak east overall.
