From Mitch Lawrence of the NY Daily News: www.nydailynews.com/2001-02-25/Metro_Sports/Basketball/a-101067.asp ------------------
I was just about to post this. Here's an interesting question: If Sacramento was to lose CWebb to us anyway, how would they feel about a deal of Cato/KT/pick for CWebb, which gives CWebb more money, 12.5% increase vs. 10%, and Sacramento some sort of compensation. Not to mention, giving us 7 mill more in cap room (Mo Taylor, Antonio Davis, or Hakeem Olajuwon). If Sacramento loses Cwebb, they'll more than likely still be over the cap, or just marginally, ~1 mill under it, not enough to lose their exception and give them real cap room. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. I don't know how reliable Lawrence has been through the years, but that article sure read well. I think we are at least the c0-favorites, though alot of things can change. Nikestrad, my question is, will Sacramento be willing to take on Cato's salary ? I mean I guess it's better then losing CW for nothing, but Cato's salary is a big problem. ------------------ "Roses are red. Violets are blue. I'm a schizophrenic and so am I."
Nice scoop grummett ... Capologists: Correct me if I'm wrong, but despite the fact Lawrence said they could, the Rockets can not sign-and-trade Maurice Taylor, can they? They hold no Bird Rights and to sign him they have to use pure cap space... though perhaps it's just "signing with current team" in order to make a sign and trade. Either way, they can't go in a 2-team deal I don't think (double sign and trade). Not condoning trading Mo either.... just wondering about that since Mitch brought it up. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
funny thing is i was talking to some wizards fans online last night who have this idea that webber will sign with the wizards because jordan can guranttee signing vince carter the following y year lol. i think houston has to be a top favorite and his family in houston gives us a big advantage ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
Right now I don't think any team would want Cato because of his injury record and giant salary. We won't be able to trade him. But if he stays healthy, I do think he will become a productive player for us. ------------------
I dont want Moochie to leave, I wouldnt mind bullard , rogers and them going. But Moochie helps the bench alot, he runs the offense better than anyone on the team. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
What?? You wouldn't trade Mooche for Webber? I love Mooche as much as anyone but if we have to give up Mooche to get C-Webb, then I'm sorry but I gotta let Mooche go. I really doubt the Kings would want Mooche anyway since they already have two point guards that they like. Although I really don't see what there is to like about J-Dubb. ------------------
Didn't that article say a sign and trade between Houston? Houston trades Anderson Rogers Taylor Cato Kings Trade C-Webb Christie Damn good trade if you are a Rocket fan. And if Dream signs for the min. our lineup would be Dream/Lauren Woods? Haywood? Webber/KT Christie/Williams Mobley/ Draft pick Francis/Norris ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
Uh, that article loses all its credibility because in that picture, that can't possibly be Chris Webber... I don't know who that is, but Webber never wore #13... And what uniform is that anyway? ------------------ Check out my homepage! Loads of sports pics! http://www.public.asu.edu/~sykim/
This must be the freakin' 6.02xE6th. time you've posted your dis-like for Jason Williams. For someone who gets all worked up over the supposed un-deserved media attention of Jason Williams, why do you continue to mention his name in your posts? Blade-Runner wet-dream or Freudian night-mare, the hungy, hungry hippo, Crisy, is calling your name. ------------------ "Breaking up is hard to do...[with] everyone trying to make it a parting befitting all the professionalism that came before. I don't really recall mentioning Jason Williams since the All Star break. I really have not had a reason to though I suppose since the Rockets have not played the Kings in a while. Does it upset you that I don't like J-Dubb as a point guard? Your not just a little ubsessesed with what I think about J-Dubb are you? Refresh my memory. Are you the Kings fan that got all upset because I said J-Dubb was the second best point guard on the Kings and that he was way overrated because he was white and the media was looking for the next great white basketball player that had some flash like Pete Maravich? Or are you the other guy that accused me of being a black racist even though I am white? Sorry I am not sure which one you are. I know I've seen your screen name before but I just can't remember who you are exactly. If my comments have been bothering you that long then I will be more than happy to discuss the merits of my accusations about the media and or the talents of J-Will, J-Dubb or just plain Jason Williams in a very civil manor if you wish. I don't think anyone should have to walk around for weeks on end carrying that big of a chip on your shoulder. As far as me mentioning Jason Williams in my post, the Kings have two point guards that they like so I can't see them wanting Moochie in a sign and trade. Although for the life of me I can't see what they like in Jason Williams. ------------------ [This message has been edited by crash5179 (edited February 25, 2001).]

Toronto is the team to beat now that they have Eric Montross. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
This BBS had a laugh a while back in regards to the "Chicago Pin" (B Drew trade). If the Rockets need to move a contract off the books to a team with cap space to facilitate acquiring Webber, Krause might have the last laugh on Houston. Mango ------------------ Spring Cleaning!!!
And a crappy trade if you're the Kings. It's bad enough you're losing Webber, why give up a good guard like Christie who knows the system? And why give up ALL of our PFs? And what makes you think that Mo will sign a lesser contract just to be traded? And what makes you think that Sacramento will take Cato's contract and tie up their cap space? And why do you want Brendan Haywood, who is a SOFT center! I don't care if he plays in the ACC and for nothing, that means nothing. Look at the centers that have come out of the ACC, especially Duke and North Carolina, Cherokee Parks, AC Earl, Eric Montross and Serge Zwikker. I have seen nothing that distinguishes him from them. And the only way the Rocks could get Loren Wood is in the lottery, which they won't be able to get. Maybe Ken Johnson if the Rocks get a top 12 to 15 pick and that is looking doubtful the way they are playing. ------------------ Dream a deadly Dream. . . I would like to see Webber join the Rockets, but if Allan Houston decides or is forced to leave New York, can they then sign Webber as a free agent? ------------------
Not even close. New York is about 40 million over the cap. Houston leaving will not get them anywhere NEAR being able to sign CWebb. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." "We want a higher seed. There's no doubt.
