No one knows what Art Briles did or failed to do. The fact is that Ken Starr failed to hire a Title IX office and coordinator to Fall of 2014, that doesn't fall on Art, that falls on Starr and he is gone.
You think that this whole situation is about UT wanting to get better at football and not about Baylor players raping women and the Baylor admins AND football staff not doing anything about it? You're an idiot.
The best part is that Baylor is digging their own grave and they don't even realize it. At some point in the near future, there will be conference realignment. Baylor will need one of the power conferences to want them, or at least need align themselves with UT for wherever the Longhorns choose to go. They are making themselves absolutely toxic right now, all for 5 or so more years of football relevance. Baylor had a chance to be the religious school that buckled down and made the hard decisions when faced with a scandal. Instead they are doubling down on football. Enjoy these next few years, Baylor, because they are likely to be your last.
Good ****ing lord. Another "UT is spreading false rumors to hurt us! They want our players and coaches" idiotic Baylor fan post. Who cares about the dozen(s) of rape charges and the covers ups by both Baylor and the Waco police, this is all UT's fault! Delete you account, idiot.
I agree he's an idiot of he believes those things. But let's not act like there aren't a lot of non-Baylor fans out there who are enjoying this. I mean, Brando was practically orgasmic every time new news came out regarding this.
Then why suspend Briles in the first place? If true, Briles should be on the sidelines this fall right?
IF Baylor let's him back, then all of you alumni should be extremely ashamed and embarrassed with respects to your alma mater. Hoping this is just a rumor. And yes, I do believe the UT fans are the ones enjoying this the most because their program sucks right now (has for a while) and Baylor's is much better. But that doesn't change the fact that a suspension is ridiculous and insulting to the victims of RAPE
I'm not enjoying it whatsoever, I'm annoyed by the few tard Baylor fans who still only care about their football team. If this happened at UT I'd want every ****ing coach, every person involved including the Chancellor and head of athletics gone. Immediately. Clean ****ing house, release all players who have that right and I'd be fine with a self imposed ban of football activities until everything is cleared up. I'd also trash all of my gear and pretty much erase my mind of the school. **** football. I'd then ask Clutch to change my name to Beer and blame everything on OU.
Context: tmac2therack believes this is about UT wanting to hire Briles in 2017 you're an idiot. You don't know anything about UT fans and our university. Every single person I have talked to here is absolutely disgusted with Baylor and Briles. We actually investigate rape allegations that happen on and off campus and report them. You are inundated with the dangers of sexual assault as soon s you get on campus and UT is very clear about the 0 tolerance policy. Every single allegation sparks an investigation. I would be on of the first to protest any kind of hire but it is absolutely ridiculous to think that anyone in the athletic program or administration would ever be for that. You are clearly one of the koolaid baylor fans that belongs on baylorfans.com If you honestly think that the attitude from Austin is because we want to hire Art Briles in 2017 then you are an idiot when it comes to college football and the heinousness ness of what your university has become. The difference between you and me is that I actually know what it means to be a champion. I was on the drag watching and celebrating when we won the rose bowl and were crowned College Football champions. I know how amazing and wonderful that feel is. Because of that, I know what's worth that feeling and what is not. If this happened at UT the I would call for the entire staff to be wiped out and I would not care if that meant we didn't have a season of football. This is just a silly game with kids. It's not worth what Baylor fans think it is. They are just desperate to feel relevant which I understand but I don't have to feel like it deserves forgiveness. P.S. Unlike Baylor, we don't schedule non-conference cupcakes. Baylor is scared of competition and they are the ones that sparked "The Baylor Rule" in the big 12. We aren't scared to schedule UCLA, Cal, Notre Dame, USC etc. because you can't be the champion unless you beat the champions. We welcome Baylor's prominence because it would mean something to beat them. It would help us get into the playoffs instead of having the committee look at our schedule and see, "Well one of their wins is against Baylor" which is what we have had to deal with before. I don't want your program to be ****ty again on the field because it would hurt UT but if that is the cost then that is the cost. Ugh. This is embarrassing to see on CF. Orgasmic? Go back and read my posts. Most of them were merely copy pasting headlines. Early and late ones were expressing concern and disgust at if it was true. You guys deserve to be kicked out of this conference. If it means bringing in the annoying UH fans than so be it. At least they have values. I was the only one here that identified this was an issue and the only one that kept people up to date of what was going on instead of letting it live in silence and now I am being attack. This is pathetic. You guys haven't learned anything. I want to reiterate this. If this happened at UT then I would NOT GIVE A **** if it meant cancelling our program for a year. This is not worth some stupid game.
Full disclosure: when the news initially broke, it was in no way a football story for me. I purely was concerned about the victims. But then a funny thing happened... Baylor made it a football story. Baylor fans/bloggers/etc. started defending their coach. They started blaming UT and the victims. They celebrated when it initially seemed Starr would take the hit, then threatened to riot when Briles got canned. They've revealed themselves to be a despicable fanbase, worse than any I've encountered. Honestly, if the Baylor community had reacted to this story rationally (i.e. showing even 1% of compassion) then I most likely would have been just fine with the punishments handed down to this point. But because I have truly seen what is important to that group, I will fully admit that I am rooting for that program's downfall now.
I'm ashamed of how the Rockets run their organization but it doesn't mean that I'll stop being a fan. I've been ashamed and disappointed with what has transpired at Baylor.
This is so sick. NOONE IS ENJOYING THIS, thus a comparison of who is enjoying it most is beyond stupid. Your statement implies that you, as a fan of whoever, is enjoying this process - I sincerely hope that isn't the case. If this happened at Texas, I literally wouldn't give a **** about football until everyone behind it was gone and it was clear that the administration/program had enough control to keep it from continuing to happen. Rehiring Briles would be about as big a step in the opposite direction as possible, but I've reached the point of not caring. Anything but keeping quiet is interpreted as "JEALOUS UT FANS JUST WANNA KEEP BAYLOR DOWN!!!!"
http://www.foxsports.com/college-fo...tract-may-cost-baylor-tens-of-millions-061316 I think the buyout is a huge driver in re-instating Briles tbh. 15-25 M is a lot of money. You then have to pay 3-4 M to get another quality coach plus the lawsuits and so on and so on.
Yeah - sexual assault is a little worse of an offense than missing your 3's...Different reasons to be ashamed.
Pretty sure if Briles is fire with cause he won't be getting "bought out". That or Baylor signed the worst contract ever.
