Draymond should get it. Leads the team in reb, ast, steals, 2nd in blks, 3rd in scoring, leads in game score. But, Curry will get it even though the Warriors pretty much would have been up 2-0 without him the first 2 games. The league can't afford to have their new marketing god fail to win a FMVP yet again especially after begin the first unanimous MVP. They have to complete the dream season for Curry even if undeserved.
As Green himself said, the Finals MVP is the Warriors as a team. I think it's fair to say the Golden State Warriors have made the Finals MVP an irrelevant award....as it should be. Individuals don't win titles in team sports, teams do. The Finals MVP (like the League MVP) leaves the mistaken impression that a single player carries the team for the entire series. That is just not the case with the Warriors. That is in fact the strength of the Warriors. They don't ride one guy like Lebron for their wins and championships. They ride the whole team.
Right but the point is that for the Warriors, they don't operate that way. They aren't built to ride and die on one single player like a Lebron or a Hakeem. So when it comes to stuff like Finals MVP, it is an award that just doesn't really fit.
Should be Green or Iggy. But you know that, if Curry scores lots of points again, people are gonna say "he really bounced back from a terrible first two games. Must have been jitters or injury." And thus Curry will get it.
So . .. if you remove any cog . . .the whole team fails? Do they win this series without Curry? Klay? Iggy? The question is . . which one could they least afford to lose? Rocket River
I an SO sick of the F***ing injury excuse He injured or he not He plays poorly . . you think he is playing a body cast He plays well . . . he is Jordan Flu Game and Willis Reed's knee Rocket River
You would have a reason to be so angry... if only there wasnt this tidbit reality involved. Namely, Curry did get injured in the Playoffs and though he returned, his performance plummeted. The clear diffence in shooting performance before and after the injury makes musing about him being recovered quite appropriate. Now we do not know if he's injured, but it's not a remote possibility at all, indeed it's rather likely considering his drop off and worse performance than last year. It's absurd to suddenly think he regressed versus the competition when he clearly has been playing at another level than the rest of the NBA. But does that have in anyway bearance on him getting MVP? I would say NO. Tough luck Curry... if you are injured you are not the MVP right now, how ever skilled you are when 100% recovered.
This would be a more convincing argument if not for the fact that, statistically, his overall performance has been pretty much identical to last year in the playoffs, if not better: Per 36/min 2014/15: 25.9/5.8/4.6 45.6%/42.2%/83.5% 2015/16: 27.4/6.2/6.1 45.5%/41.7%/91.3%
But it's worse than his overall performance this year and this year he obviously jumped to a new level. It seems pretty clear to me that, since his injury, he hasn't exactly been the player he was through most of the season. It's not a binary question of "Is he injured or not?" Even after a player returns from injury, there's often a period of time where they're not fully recovered to their old levels of explosion and this seems particularly likely with a knee injury. That's especially likely if a player comes back "too soon," which is why teams often hold a player out longer than completely necessary. With Curry, there was no option to hold him out longer than completely necessary since it's the playoffs.
You forget that this year he's extremely streaky in the play offs (and padded last game). It's incomparable.
