With White's continued struggles, and the Super 2 deadline likely passed, you have to imagine Reed's call up is fairly imminent.
Reed though is not forcing the issue. I could see Danny Worth getting a shot. .458 OBP .568 SLG .351 AVG 1.026 OPS By comparison Reed's OPS is .830
Send White down, move Valbuena to first and let Worth play 3rd. Move Bregman to AAA to play 3rd in Worth's stead. See how it goes from there. Trade Feldman to someone who needs a pitcher to free up a 40 man spot. Devenski makes him expendable. Even though it appears that Feliz is becoming a one inning critical situation guy, he can throw multiple innings if necessary.
I feel like Worth was just signed as minor league organizational depth. He has been awesome this year, and I wouldn't necessarily be against moving him up. But he is a 30 year old tearing up minor league pitching. He has had multiple shots in the majors and has hit to the tune of .230 with a .588 OPS. Now he wouldn't be the first guy in history to have "figured it out" later in life, but chances are more likely that he is just a veteran guy who is taking advantage of younger pitchers in AAA Would rather see Reed and Bregman up, but if they are going to be stubborn and not make those moves, then i'd rather take a shot on Worth and see, he can't be much worse than what we are running out there
Trading a decently-performing veteran on a team trying to contend in order to free up a 40-man spot would send the absolute wrong message to the team. Feldman is one of the longest tenured guys; he's not being traded for roster flexibility. In fact, why mess with the pen at all? It's doing just fine.
40 man shouldn't be an issue with a guy like Fields still on there. Not to mention Chapman and Peacock who are 28 and getting owned at AAA The talk of 40 man issues is crazy in my opinion, there is plenty of fat on it that can be cut I mean seriously, if we are ever going to rely on Fields, Chapman and Peacock then we must have gone back into rebuild mode or something

bregma looked overmatched this past ST, but he sure looks like he is going to be a great player for the Astros next year.
You looked overmatched as a poster last year, and you still do Some people progress and improve, unfortunately some never do Bregman will be fine, hope to see him here soon
Hopefully starting next home stand, Bregman and Reed will be manning the corners in Houston with Moran and White in reserve at Fresno. I am far from giving up on either of those players, they haven't had near enough at bats to make a long term judgement on their careers. The only problem is can the Astros be patient enough if Bregman and Reed don't establish themselves immediately. This is where inconsistency and underachieving from Gattis/Gomez/Rasmus really come back to bite you as a team still needing to develop more long term talent while wanting to contend.
Yea, I still think White especially is going to be a good major league hitter. Many people forget that most players fail in the big leagues before they succeed. Some come up a contribute right away, but not most. Having said that, would love to see what Reed and Bregman could do right now. They wouldn't likely be worse than what we are trotting out there, and we could start their treck to possible big league success without likely harming the current team. Best case senario is the team gets a boost At least Gattis and Gomez have both ripped LHP, both hitting over .300 and OPS of .886 and .960 are excellent. The roster is so flawed that we can't use platoon splits well though, and we have many games with guys in the lineup who aren't likely to succeed, and Hinch is sitting there with no better options most of the time. Sure wish he would give Kemp some PT vs RHP though
This would be my position player roster going into the 2nd half: RF Springer 2B Altuve SS Correa 1B Reed C Gattis/Castro 3B Bregman/Marwin LF Rasmus DH White/Singleton CF Marisnick/Kemp Lots of platoon advantages there that will help the young guys get established. Looks like Vabuena and Gomez are getting hot just in time to have some deadline trade value. I'd try to extend Castro and Rasmus if they'd do 2-3 years at $12M/yr or less.
He looked overmatched against the AA and AAA guys that were in ST as well. I wouldn't judge him on ST alone. He has an almost perfect swing along with great hands. The kid is going to hit.
unfortunate news about tucker getting injured. we really need one of him or daz to pay off. lots of time left, kyle was having a good start to his season.
