You act like their is an equal chance that either of those outcomes occurring. People who aren't blind Rockets or Harden homers know that there is little chance Durant is coming to Houston. They scoff at the notion that the Rockets have as good of a chance to land Durant as OKC, Spurs, Boston, Warriors and any of the other handful of teams in the league. Bottom line. Durant aint coming to Houston. Think otherwise? Lets bet on it then. Sig bet, money bet, you choose. Durant isnt coming to Houston, no matter how "rationales" you guys come up with to convince yourself otherwise.
for money? KD won't come here. for championship? KD won't come here. for friendship? hmmm, only slim chance.
If Kevin Durant wants to win a championship. The Rockets are his best interest, however, getting there in the first year would be difficult but doable.
He should go to the Spurs. Durant, Aldridge and Kwahi can rival the Warriors. Add Parker, and some replacements for Ginobolli and Duncan. Plug in a serviceable defensive big, ball moving Euro perimeter back-ups, a good back-up for Parker, and with Pop this will be a 60-win contender for another 5 years.
and yet, if Stein is accurate, KD has NO desire to come here and play with Harden... he knows he'd get max money (not as much as OKC can offer) but still has NO desire to come here... folks can believe what they want to believe I guess....
Kevin Durant should either stick with the Thunder, or sign with either the Spurs or Wizards (because he knows he won't win and wants to be closer to family). Durant to the Rockets would not work for a superstar who needs to win now.
I agree it's not likely but to dismiss it when we're one of the few teams that will get a sitdown is somewhat encouraging. I think both KD and Harden are in win now mode. There both going to be 27 and 28 next year. There in the part of their career were the all NBA and numbers don't mean much if you arnt contending every year. They've both individually gotten everything from the league. It's time to win
No, I don't act like that. I've always said that the likely outcome is that he resigns with OKC. As for the Spurs, Warriors. Again. Once again, is Durant the guy that wants to bandwagon? What does DURANT think about that? I know other people think that he should do it to get rings but does he want rings that way? Iverson could have ring chased but you know why he didn't? His ego wouldn't let him, he always wanted to be the man while winning one. Kobe could have too. So many star players have gone out of their way to try and prove they can win a championship being the man, it's not a stretch to assume that maybe Durant is that way. If he is that way then there is little chance he goes to GSW to help Curry win a few more MVPs. This isn't about what you think. Never forget that. That's what some people are not getting. They continue to be emo about the Rockets like the Rockets are the worse franchise ever and seem to forget the one thing Durant said about the Rockets was basically. "I really like how they operate."
I'm not saying that I think there is a chance he comes here. In fact, anyone who applies objective analysis to the situation agrees his best option (financially, brand, chance of winning) is to stay put. However, where in the article does it say that KD specifically does not want to play with harden, as you keep saying? It doesn't. It's clear that Steins source in the article is NOT from KD or his camp so the only information out there actually from KD is him saying that he missed playing basketball with Harden. There are plenty of reasons why he would not want to play in Houston. Mainly that his best opportunity to win and make money is elsewhere. You're jumping to conclusions that it's about harden.
lol Stein already hedging. Dude has zero idea. No one has any idea, so acting like you do just makes you look stupid. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">PS: The Rockets, I'm told, remain hopeful they get a July face-to-face with Kevin Durant despite knowing they're not presently in contention</p>— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/741709258702495744">June 11, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Alright forget Jared Dudley. The players voted him the MVP last season. I get frustrated fan attitude, but we're just going to forget that he was named the players MVP last season? his perception among NBA players maybe took a hit last season but not as bad as some of the more emo have worked out in their heads
All that stuff you just wrote about, chasing rings, Kobe, curry blah blah blah... are all the made up rationales I was referring to. It doesn't matter in the least how many possible arguments why Durant would like Houston IF the bottom line is that DURANT isn't leaving OKC! I don't care to guess the hypothetical probabilities (or make up reasons why) of Durant joining Spurs/Warriors/Celtics or any other team versus joining the Rockets, because unlike some, I'm aware that the possibility is REMOTE if not nonexistent.
The players voting him MVP is meaningless, there are NBA legends saying they would not like to play with Harden - I am sure there are tons of players who feels the same. I understand that is not something Rocket fans want to hear or acknowledge but it is the truth. DD
