I like Ronnie Dawson a lot -- doesn't have a lot of years of playing experience, so hopefully he is still growing as a player. Great attitude and enthusiasm. Obviously has the physical tools with both strength and speed. Extremely productive at Ohio State -- average, home runs, stolen bases. Very exciting prospect.
Hope Mike Elias comments on the 123 pitches that Whitley threw tonight. Never played baseball, so didn't play for Schroeder. Did play football for coach Hall and coach K though. Even played a year of JV basketball for K.
Whitley certainly seems to he top flight stuff. Big fastball, to go along with 2 other pitches. The thing that concerns me with giant pitchers is command. Because of their long levers, they seem to take while to put stuff together command wise, if at all. It does lend itself to easy velocity though. Really like the pick, and it's always nice to add a Texas boy into the system.
