Don't have to read that article to say yes. Maybe one day a team will be fortunate enough to build a better back court, but at the moment no team has ever built a back court as dangerous and talented as the Warriors with Curry and Thompson.

Westbrook & Harden would've been better.

[rquoter]“Ain’t nobody could shoot like these guys,” said Hall of Fame former league executive, team coach/exec and player Rod Thorn, who drafted a guard named Michael Jordan for the Bulls.[/rquoter]

This is a quote from Rod Thorn?

    Really?

They shooting style and form even while being fouled super hard is incredibly accurate. If their guys are allowed to play physical like the 90s, even Jordan and Pippen would be coughing up blood trying to defend these guys.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a better back court, especially if you require that both players be really good, eliminating the obvious answer of "Michael Jordan and whichever other guard he was playing with."

Tough question, but arguably they are the best ever.

There have been some great backcourts in NBA history:

    Sam Jones/Bob Cousy
Byron Scott or Michael Cooper/Magic Johnson
    Manu Ginobili/Tony Parker
    Richard Hamilton/Chauncey Billups
    James Harden/Russell Westbrook
    Jerry West/Gail Goodrich
    Earl Monroe/Walt Frazier
    Vince Carter/Jason Kidd
    Dennis Johnson/Gus Williams
    Joe Johnson/Steve Nash
    Michael Finley/Steve Nash
Michael Jordan/John Paxson, BJ Armstrong, or Ron Harper
    Mitch Richmond/Tim Hardaway
    Ray Allen/Sam Cassell
    Ray Allen/Rajon Rondo
    Steve Smith/Mookie Blaylock
    Clyde Drexler/Terry Porter
    Kendall Gill/Sam Cassell
    Jeff Hornacek/Kevin Johnson
    Jason Richardson/Baron Davis

Lin/Lamb would have been GOAT if we never traded for Harden.

If you judge by sheer talent then the backcourts of Monroe/Frazier, West/Goodrich, Thomas/Dumars, Cousy/Sharman and Cousy/Jones all featured two Hall of Fame guards. Curry and Thompson are obviously the best shooting backcourt in history but Thompson isn't likey to be a Hall of Famer.

If you're looking at the best rounded tandem then it's probably Thomas and Dumars. . They couldn't shoot it as well as Thompson and Curry but they were both still very good offensive players and they were much better defensively and were better passers.

Some other duos who deserve mentions:

    Andrew Toney/Maurice Cheeks
    Reggie Miller/Mark Jackson
    Dave Bing/Jimmy Walker
    Paul Westphal/Walter Davis
    Kevin Johnson/Dan Majerle
    Mookie Blaylock/Steve Smith
    Gary Payton/Ricky Pierce
    Lenny Wilkens/Austin Carr
    Jason Kidd/Jim Jackson

Thompson sure seems like he is on a pace currently to be a HOFer he is going to be one of those guys that doesn't have overwhelming stats. (one reason being in some eyes that will vote because he was on such a good/well rounded team) but will make up for it with rings and things like a 73 win season.

yeah, this is the basketball hall of fame. thompson will be in.

i don't know how long the backcourt has to play together to be the best backcourt ever, but the season steph just had is up there with all-time great seasons, and most players capable of all-time great seasons didn't have an all-nba backcourt counterpart with them.

if you look at things like PER or WS, steph is going to be way ahead of the best guy in a lot of these backcourts mentioned, maybe even beating both guys combined in win shares. and thompson is right there with most of the 2nd guys, even some of the 1st guys in win shares.

they very easily could have just had the best backcourt season ever.

    Dumars/IT.

The Bad Boys backcourt. I will admit that they were before my time but they were legendary. Dumars while undersized was an amazing defender, one capable of giving MJ fits. And Isiah, what more can be said about his greatness as a player?

    They could do it all.
