It's said Asian champaignship tournament will be changed to once a year!!!!!!!

If this is true, then I think they are idiots who wants to cash in on this tournament. I don't think Yao will have any obligation after these tournaments since he will only return for serious tournament such as for the Olympics, International Championships and Asian Champioships(qualifying for the Olympics). I think they are doing this to better their basketball for the younger players and Yao don't need to play for them. China are business people so I would expect them to be smart not to burn out Yao or risking getting him injured so I don't think they will need his being present during this smaller tournaments.

 

Read the article. The Chinese are not the ones advocating this change. The Secretary of the Asian Basketball Association is. And he doesn't care how burnt out Yao will be as a Rocket. Yao in China makes him money. I seriously doubt China would agree to this change though.

Well even the NBATV here is showing the games. You would want the tournament to be held every year too if you were the Asian Basketball Association Secretary. But I doubt the popularity will stay if Yao has played his last Asian Championship game.
