Actually, yes, MJ worked out on his own with Tim for conditioning and with Scottie and (later) Ron Harper before and during the season.

Oh yeah, enough with the MJ comparisons already.

Go JVG! Tell it like it is!

Cat and Steve claim to be the leaders, but their actions (on inactions) speak louder than words. Those guys are making mega bucks and are doing nothing to earn it.

I'm telling you guys, they need to get their priorities straight!!

The MJ comparisons are not in relation to player skill they are in relation to leadership. MJ was a leader on his team his priorities were winning above all else. I expect the same from the leaders on our team. And Steve disapoints over and over. Steve has all the skills as a player and none as a leader.

We need a leader on the court. Calling Steve Francis: Please step forward.

this is going to be a huge wake-up call to francis. it's time to sh*t or get off the pot. JVG will not be speculating, as everyone does in this forum, on how good stevie is or can be. he will succeed or he will be traded. there will be no controversy, no debate.

I love it! JVG has now called out the players twice in less than a week.

Seems he is placing the blame for last year's mediocrity squarely on their shoulders.

I was of the biggest Rudy fans on this board (and always will be; we love you Rudy, get well!) BUT JVG is going to make this one of the most fun and interesting Rocket's seasons in years. I can hardly wait to get started. Wait, I think we are started!

well, you don't want him to suit up do you? he would be the worst player on the team. well, maybe better than nachbar and amaechi.

I only have 2 words for you: Contractual obligation.

We would not have been allowed to draft Yao if we had not committed to allowing him to compete for the Chinese national team. Get used to it and stop bashing, you are making yourself look like an id10t.

You know, in the 2 years plus that I have been on this site posting and reading things, this post has to be one of the dumbest I have ever read.

    Dude,

Do you not even remember last summer with the whole Yao mania? Did you not remember that Yao has to play so many games a year for his home country, China? Do you not know that China is a communist nation, one of the few left in this world?

But, yes, you are right, oh Francis moniker man, in that Yao is not committed to the Rockets.

did Van Gundy come to a team in rebuilding stage?

Let's see Wink had Dream in Decline
Van Gundy had Ewing with some years

    Look at Van Gundy's Team
and tell me it had less talent that The Teams Francis Had

Was Barkley here Francis's 1st year?
I don't remember him being here .. . but honestly I'm not sure

    Francis Mobley, Shanderson, [Willis?], Dream
was that the starting line up

what was Van Gundy's 1st starting line up?

loosely translated . . .apples and orange

    Rocket River
OH yea . . . .Francis is in the POWER WEST
The east was strong then . . but NOWHERE near where the west is now

Ive been on record many times on here as saying that a team's success and failures lay primarily in the hands of the players. After last season, I blamed the players. If we are mediocre again this year, Ill blame the players. If we succeed, Ill give credit to the players for getting their act together.

The post that you quoted was more of a jab at a fellow poster who placed the blame for all of our shortcomings last year on Rudy. JVG has a) Said that we weren't undercoached last year and b) Insinuated that some of our superstars haven't been working out like he would have liked them to this summer. Hence, he is saying that our success this year will depend on the attitude and conditioning of the players.

Its a good thing you aren't playing for JVG cause he is all about "no excuses" you and Steve Francis ain't got nothing but excuses.

The posts blaming Yao for not showing up are way off-base.

I hope the international calendary changes a bit. There needs to be a designated "international schedule" that doesn't conflict with the primary basketball leagues.

As basketball grows in worldwide popularity, it's going to become more like soccer in the sense that the international game will also increase in significance. When the US simply trashed everyone 150-85, there was no hope of this. Now that it's becoming remotely competitive and infrastructure elsewhere develops, the international game will progress. Many players will require international breaks. Let's just hope scheduling improves, too.

RR, if loses he'll be fired. Also, your argument about NY being in the East doesn't apply. Because back then the East actually was the better conference.
