yeah, saw that, too. korea is a perimeter 3pt shooting team, my guess is that yao was doing fine on the interior, they needed quick perimeter players to guard the shooters. i read the koreans were making some ridiculous threes, they shot 17/40 overall which is low for them...

It is expected that China will launch her very first manned spacecraft (Shenzhou V) this week. The third country to do this in this globe (of course, besides US and Russia).

Reliabe source says that a tall guy named Yao Ming is one of the prospective astronauts. As according to a treaty about Space Project Coorperation between US and China, Shenzhou V will land 60 miles south of Houston, Texas.

Don't let the pictures fool you ... the kid played a total of 4 grand minutes ... If anything, his performance as the Asian Championships will drop his stock at the NBA's draft ...

Check out the T-shirt Yao is wearing. Could it be from Steve's company?

Guys the word from CD on the radio was Yao is expected to arrive here the morning of Oct 5 which is this Sunday. They expect him to get in one day of practice with the rest of the team down in Galveston. just an FYI for you guys in Houston who may want to head down to the island this weekend and check out the Rockets at Ball highschool.

thats true, but we are talking about the China vs Korea game, they dont even have black jerseys. The end of the article is about the Qatar and Lebanon game.

"Third place in the tournament went to Qatar, who defeated Lebanon 77-67 on Wednesday night.

That game was delayed after both teams showed up in black uniforms shirts and neither would agree to change. They finally took the court after about one hour in distinct red and blue shirts. "

    still damn funny though

Don't worry, dude. Ha will be great. Whether he'll be greater than Yao, it totally depends on him. I like the kid. You're a Korean cheering for Yao. I am a Chinese rooting for Ha. Hope he can come into the NBA and rock someday.

not doubting you, but did you actually hear CD say it? or was that one of the radio guys saying that CD said it?

Just curious how reliable that timetable is.
    ;)

    quake99...

    bah..greedy and spoiled my ass.

He has obligations to the NT, but he is also obligated to the Rockets. His American job requires for him to have been there Tues. They dont make a big deal out of it because they know Yao has no control over the scheduling of the Asian games.
    But.
Now that his obligation to the NT is over, it is time for hm to come fulfill his obligation to the Rockets.

He is an honorable man, so now he needs to do the honorable thing and get ready to help us get to the Finals. He will be better equipped to do that by getting to camp in time to actually learn the system.

If we were running RT's old way, I wouldnt worry about a couple of days...but we aint.

    New coach
    New Teammates
    New system

    Time to get to work.

"Yo Yao, CHILL, he's on our team man!!!" :D

As he gone mad?? Looks like Ming got a little over-excited with his blockfest....isn't that guy on the Chinese team? Hahaha, poor little guy, bet he wasn't expecting that!

It is not like that the rest of the team has learned the system. With his IQ, I believe Yao can catch up even if he starts 2,3 days later than some of the bettleheads on the team. I am more concerned with the fact that few veterans volunteered to work out together in September.

Man, I hope Yao still has some gas left for the NBA season. He stacked up a lot of min in the asian tournament.

So he should be here on the 5th. THe preseason begins on the 7th for the rockets.

that must be on defensive end. #5 wasn't expecting the rebound to come his way. When do you see a guy shoot in that pose?

Honestly, I'm a little concerned about that myself.
I realize the vets will show up in shape and ready to play, but it wouldnt have hurt them at all to come and get a first-hand taste of what life under JVG is going to be like.

Then, they would have been just that much further along the learning curve come the beginning of camp.

    as for Yao.

With a system that is sure to feature te rock going thru Yao, how are the other guys going to get learning without him?
    Substitute Cato?
    no thanks.

Simply put, without Yao..the new system cannot be instituted.

That is the most pressing reason for him to get here quick.
