So, you are saying we should read the entire section and evaluate in the proper context? This is clutch fans. Context, accuracy, common sense and fact are absolutely optional for 98% of this board.
I was not a huge fan of this choice, but it does provide for a clear direction. As a franchise, you can either assemble the best roster possible without any particular direction and then get a coach that can kind of cobble something together or bring in a strong coach with a definite system and then find players that fit. Morey has seemingly just chased stars without much thought for how they fit together. The problem with a analytical approach in basketball is that players don't stand on their own. It isn't about simply finding guys with the best PERs and hoping a coach can make it work. At least now, he has to focus his energy on actually assembling a roster that will complement each other and not just the best 15 players he can find.
I agree. That system of collecting, and always wheeling and dealing for assets works as long as your satisfied with fielding a middle-of-the-pack team (which the Rox did for years) and can also prepare you with the proper attractive pieces when a potential big trade comes along (i.e.: The James Harden trade) But at some point you need to grow and build pieces with respect to Chemistry. Honestly I think Morey agrees as well.. He thought the Chemistry was there after last season's run to the WCF, and tried for the most part to keep that team together - while just adding a few extra pieces. But... for some reason it all fell apart this year.
