With the players we have and where they are in their career, success is defined as winning the 'chip. The ride though is important too and it is unrealistic to actually win it every year--but it is not too crazy to ask to be in contention at least. There is no denying MDA knows offense better than most. If he has humbled himself and accepts defensive input then why not? Offense and defense in basketball is symbiotic, more so than football, since there is no break between offense/defense and the same personnel are in the game. As long as MDA understands this we'll be fine. I thought Adelman when with the Rockets had some satisfying games to watch since the offense flowed and the defense was pretty good. I believe we even had a game with 50 point margin of victory. Margin of Victory -- I wish coaches/players these days had the killer instinct to not let up.
At least the Harden haters and the Harden homers can agree on this.... virtually none of us want MDA! lol! He might be as unpopular in Houston as Corey Brewer...
All the McHale haters probably wishing we still had him at this point... I know I wish we still had him
YES!!! I LOVE IT!!!! MIKE! DAN!! TONY!!! How can u beat three first name LOL!!! I expect he hires "top Defensive coordinator" DAN DAN TONY soon!!!
This team is done. Another couple of years wasted on a coach who has been unsuccessful for nearly a decade. The Suns was successful back then because the run and gun style was new. Today, the NBA is built upon efficient motion offense and powerful defense and smart plays. D'Antoni brings none of that. This franchise is becoming a joke. Their love of superstars and big names coach has make them one dimensional. Their offense is one dimensional. Their defense is pathetic. There's ZERO chemistry and lack of leadership. D'Antoni didn't work out with a ball dominant offensive player like Melo. It will be the same with Harden. I wanted the Rockets to try a young, smart, basketball coach from NCAA or a coach that can bring a great system to this team and work with Harden. The Rockets will just be a flashy team that can't win against great teams, will get 47-50 wins, lose in first round for the next few years until D'Antoni is fired, and then the same cycle will repeat after another dumb coaching hire One thing I realized about this team and management is they truly believes coaching isn't important. Morey and co. put more effort into stars than finding a coach with a real system. This is equivalent to the Texans bringing in Brian Hoyer. This signing truly tells me that the Rockets organization doesn't want to win championship, their true agenda is to sell tickets.
All the crap I said about this ******* years ago and got flamed for it lmao. I don't take pride in being right, but I told you so.
What's truly sickening are these fanboys trying to clean Morey's filthy fat hands outta this mess. " he was hancuffed" " Les did it" " Morey should leave"
What drives me even more insane is that we tried exactly what the Knicks failed to do. D'antoni was hired and they got Mike Woodson to be his assistant. That experiment failed. Does Les watch any basketball besides his occasional visits to Rockets games? Do we have a single person on our staff that knows anything about basketball? All these guys sitting in our front office may know how to crunch numbers but do they have any idea what goes on the court and what it takes to succeed on the basketball court? Our owner drinks wine all day. Our gm has never dribbled down the court. People have already tried to throw a coaching staff behind D'antoni and it has not worked. How is it going to work in Houston?
I'm in a wait and see mode for this. Feels very boom or bust. One thing it will be, it'll be interesting. I expect players like Beasley to have more of a role and players like Beverly? Well I don't know... It'll be interesting. One thing I do like about MDA that others are not really picking up on is that he does clash with his star players to run his stuff. I don't think Harden is as bull headed as Carmelo and Kobe to make this a big deal and if Harden buys into an actual offensive system and MDA finds him a running mate and a big to run the PNR then it's going to surprise a lot of people. Hopefully he's had time to grow as a coach and realize his mistakes as well. He's the Rockets coach now. You may not like the hire but if you are going to not root for success then I'm questioning your fanhood. All these posts about how we can't wait for him to get fired confuses me. I instead hope he does extremely well the thought of firing him would seem silly a year from now because he has the Rockets right back to being an elite team. Instead of hoping he gets fired, I hope for that.
