while a little overrated, parsons in the 2nd round would match up value wise. landry in the 2nd round is really good. capela could be a pretty good 25th pick. i know you loved how he got shane battier 8th. at the end of the day though, none of it matters without the freebie 2nd pick (didn't even have to decide) of durant and then getting another few top 5 picks, one of which he traded away.
This forum is an absolute cancer when we don't win. Westbrook missing the playoffs last year is no fault of his because his teammates were bad. While Harden carrying scrubs all year into the playoffs where they had no business being in was used against him because he dates Kardashians & doesn't take the team bus. LOL One shooting alot is good because it shows he's not a quitter & has no fear. Harden shooting alot is bad because it's selfish & freezes his team out of games. You couldn't make it up. It's like we have avid First Take watchers on here. Quality of teammates doesn't seem to matter on here. Roberson knocking down his wide open shots while Brewer bricks his has absolutely nothing to do with Westbrook's heart or leadership.
lol what are you talking about? the Thunder, like the Warriors, Cavs, and Spurs, rely heavily on analytics. "GM Sam Presti, a panelist at the inaugural MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference in 2007 while working in the San Antonio Spurs' front office, established an analytics department when he joined the then-Seattle SuperSonics later that year." http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/12331388/the-great-analytics-rankings#
the thunder have 2 superstars and not a particularly great bunch of 3 point shooters. guys like waiters and ibaka and roberson are taking the 3's the superstars don't take (and westbrook isn't actually a good 3 point shooter either). the biggest thing about superstars isn't so much their value on the court (you don't need analytics for that), it's that max salaries tend to make them underpaid and allow you to build a better team.
Warriors Series: Ariza: FG 26% 14 3PT% Brewer: FG 26% 10 3PT% Beverley: FG 27% 21 3PT% Terry: FG 34%, 32 3PT% To the untrained eye these numbers would tell you right off the bat that these players are complete & utter scrubs but in reality it emphasizes how a poor a leader Harden is. These players would be lights out with a floor general like Westbrook leading them.
yeah, the fact that morey has been so upfront in the analytics movement seems to make people think that other teams aren't using analytics. the good teams aren't using it just to build the roster either, they are putting it into use on the court just like people tend to complain about with morey, i.e. getting into the coach's business.
seriously, some ppl here are just straight up r****ded man how does OKC doing well reflect bad on Harden I have no idea. If we can have Kevin freakin' Durant as our 2nd star instead of Dwight, that would be a much bigger upgrade than replacing Harden with WB. Not to mention the gap between their roleplayers and ours.
Why are we comparing the Rockets to the Thunder? They got two top 5 players. People are here would tell you we barely have a top 10 player haha.
Well.. He went 18-9 with Kevin Durant. Without KD he went 22-18. Which is average and on pace for 45 wins. I mean still 4 more wins than 41, but the Pacers, Pistons, and Blazers all won around 44-45. So yeah, I guess that's impressive.
Nah, man. If we had Kevin Durant on last year's team we'd probably choke to the Clippers after being up 3-1 let alone beat a Warriors team that got taken 1-2 to a beat down Grizzlies and Cavaliers team. Harden makes his players worse. We should definitely trade Harden away for someone who succeeds in the playoffs like Derozan. For sure. On a serious note: I think we can ALL agree this was a terrible season. What we can't agree on is that it was a complete anomaly and likely won't happen again... I wish people weren't so stubborn. I can't see us winning less than 44 games next season unless we complete go to rebuild mode or hire a terrible coach.
Yeah Westbrook is a terrible player by "analytics"standards other than being one of the highest ranked players in the league. Here's a hint - idiots who run around shouting "West brick" are not running statistical regressions before doing so. Rather they are using the good old fashioned eye test.
Yeah cherry stat pickers and TS% pickers can take those stats and shove it where the sun don't shine Westbrook has shown that he is a better player than Harden despite what the cherry picked stats say. Cherry picked stats don't account for leadership and other intangibles No way KD is leaving Westbrook to come and play with an inferior Harden despite what the delusional will say. And Sam Presti >>>>> Derpyl Moronic
Hard to believe a team with Beverley and Terry at the point is not where OKC is. There is only so much Harden can do...he is just one man.
Breaking: Multiple insider sources have confirmed that Morey has upgraded his advanced analytic formula based off Westbrooks most recent performance. Previously Morey would rank players based off FG%, now Morey has dug deeper into the stats, and sources have it Les is on board. The new formula, sources confirm, FG% + Athleticism = Good. Expect to see some major roster change ups based off this new system.
Big fan of threads like this. My ignore list needed some more playas. 3 added, just need two more for a scrimmage.
