I stand by that. There are plenty of people who speak like idiots. He was very well spoken. People can turn that racial if they want.

I was honestly just trying to make a little joke and couldn't post the "That's Racist!" gif. Your intentions were obviously pure.

Heh. It's the racism of low expectations, I suppose. Most athletes speak well enough to not get criticized for it.

Anyway, RG3's professional reputation is that he's a self-interested, self-righteous prima donna with a limited work ethic and an ego you can see from space.

Not sure if you heard 610 or 790 yesterday afternoon about RG3's post rookie season meeting with the Shanahans and QB coach. Google if bored. Pretty comical.

Oh, I saw it. It was a laugh riot.

Living in DC has made this whole drama even better for me.

This article on theundefeated.com is a pretty good account of the whole thing... with a good play by play on the "chalkboard" incident you refer to.

I can't imagine a first year player in any sport - I don't care if he's LeBron, Trout, Andy Luck, or any other rookie that seemed WAY advanced for his age - pulling this kind of thing on his coaches.

Legend has it during training camp his rookie year, MJ pulled something similar to this on his teammates after the 3rd practice. He became the unquestioned alpha from that point on.

Exactly - it's all about how you follow it up. If you are the hardest-working, most competitive, and greatest player of all time, it becomes part of your lore. If you are a soft, not particularly hard-working college system QB, it is further proof that you are a douche.

We see this happen all over the country. These football players and coaches live in gross bubbles of adoration. Every year it gets more difficult to watch games.

If he was still at UH you would be turning the other way. He is the most successful Baylor coach ever.

UT should go hire him if Baylor fires him.

I'm a UH alum and have been following UH sports since the late 60's. Loved Briles when he played (and coached) here. However if he pulled this kind of crap at UH (turning an eye on young women getting raped) I would be in the camp to get rid of him and I wouldn't support the program until he was shown the door. Anyone that wants to win that badly, is flat out PATHETIC in my opinion.

Pulling this crap at a religious institution like Baylor is even more pathetic!!!
Briles should be shown the door.
The president should be shown the door.
The AD should be shown the door.
The head of the Waco police department should be fired.
The head of the campus police department should be fired as well.
As should anyone else who turned a blind eye to this, and didn't help these young women when they needed it.

If I was a Baylor alum this whole debacle would sicken me.

Briles has a daughter (Brianna) who went to UH. Do you think he would have turned a blind eye if this happened to her? I think we ALL know the answer to this.

What makes this even more pathetic is what happened a few years back under Bliss!!!!

That said....I have EVERY expectation that Baylor will rugsweep this given they're doing their own "internal" investigation.

Another episode that makes the entire country think Waco is just a bunch of freakin whacko's with NO moral compass!!!!

    Yep that sounds about right.

I would also expect them to do what Dean Wormer did in Animal House by putting them on "double secret probation".

Your comment acts as if I am putting Art on blast here, and I'm not. All I am saying is that this doesn't surprise me, but I am not chastising him (other than his apparent lack of PR skills).

Edit: I reserve the right to put him on blast after more details are made available though

**** that. The morally-lacking may be in line for head coaching positions at baylor, but not at Texas.

Yes, sexual assault does happen at every school in the country. You're probably also right that it's worse among student athletes, who often live without impunity. What we don't see all over the country is a school and its administration doing next to nothing to fix the problem, help victims, punish the perpetrator, etc...

Update from Chip Brown, take it for what it's worth...

Also not sure if anyone heard Pancakes on 790 this morning. Basically said Briles should stay because of he built the football program.

^ I translate this to mean...

"Somebody has to go down for this, and we like winning football games more than we like Ken Starr (who doesn't?). Although we can't really pinpoint any wrongdoing on Starr's part, so we have to "reassign" him internally and keep his pay the same, otherwise he will sue us."
