maybe in some unexpected twist-and-turn fashion, we'd still end up having jvg, w/ sam or mario as the main assistant.

Honestly, I am having a hard time with this line of thought. I fail to see how pairing MDA with a defensive specialist assistant will not only work but be a successful combination. What is the point of hiring MDA when going in, they have to compensate for his serious shortcomings on one side of the ball? - the very side that proved to be their undoing this past season. To me, the fact that they are even considering this tells me that, by definition, MDA is not the right man for the job. What about this approach would lead one to believe that this type of arrangement is going to work out any better than it did the last time around with McHale? As I see it, MDA is going to want/have to remake the roster with players the suit his offensive scheme & philosophy which would not be the type of players necessary to improve this team's dismal defensive standing. So, again, how is this supposed to work?

 

But that is where the Lionel Hollins part intrigues me. Silas new school mentality mixed with Hollin's old school mentality is what this team needs. Both would really have an effect on Harden in a very positive way.

 

And with a certain free-agent-to-be. :grin:

Will probably go unnoticed, but I love what he majored in at Brown. A coach that could finally get to know the players and understand what will motivate them would be a huge upgrade for this team (versus clapping hands and asking for more energy). Everything I've read on this guy has me sold.
