I agree with this comment !!! Then you throw in McHale being fired 11 games into the season , it's no wonder HOU is bashed all over sports shows these days. This organization is becoming a laughing stock!!!
i was. people thinking we can't sign free agents because we don't just let players do whatever they want seems off. the good teams don't do that.
Now THAT'S believable. And I see nothing wrong with it. ETA: No one will care, though, because Dwight's version ("I asked to be more involved and he said NO") is more interesting.
Yes that's his job, that's why he is supposedly worth 20 mil. No one signs Dwight Howard to be an offensive force, lol. It's surprising Dwight still has fans after admitting he's a quitter. A lot of mentally weak sheep around here.
THIS. It would be bad enough to have a rotation guy with these kinds of doubts about his place on the team, to be unable to accept his role in the system, to constantly question your own already-limited offensive game. When it's your highest-paid player and one of the two pillars around whom you're basing your championship aspirations... well, we see what it got us this year. Dwight Howard may not be the cause of EVERY problem the Rockets had this year, but he was definitely the cause of the bad chemistry and the constant funk this team seemed to be in.
Harden was out there stat padding and chucking games away. What he needed to be doing was giving Dwight post touches #TEAMBALL
Dwight just admitted that he didn't play with 100% effort because of 'perceived' lack of touches, even though he led the entire league in the post-touches category. Imagine if Harden said that? this board would have gone crazy and all the Harden haters would be feasting on his dead body by right now, especially for a problem that wasn't even real. Majority of Dwight's past teammates have some negative things to say about him. You can hate Harden all you want, but his reputation among NBA players is nowhere close to being as bad as Dwight's, that's why he was voted as a players' MVP last year. Harden got along and played very well with other superstars in 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, this myth that Harden is selfish or can't play with other great talent has no basis on reality, whereas for Dwight there might be some validity to it.
This may be true but there are a lot of people out there who still hate Dwight. With him doing this again it won't look good. Dwightmare 3 could be a big story. He's been caught in what 3 or 4 lies in a one week span? Not good.
Harden wouldn't have to play the same style under Pop. Never compare Mchale to Pop. I'm not saying you're stupid but it's a sure way for you to "look" stupid. Also, for the millionth time Harden had the flu that week and still performed very well. He carried us the entire season to the second seed and he gets sick once where other people have to finally step up and you think that's a knock against Harden? lol. Anybody who knows Harden knows that when he gets hurt or sick he tells no one and plays through and doesn't use it as an excuse.
Or maybe Harden -- who was what, 24, when Howard arrived? -- deferred to the older, more established player, a multi-time all-star and DPOY. When the team made it clear this year that Howard wasn't going to be the focus of the offense like he so clearly wanted, he went into a funk and pulled the team down with him. Harden did his best to be above it, to make it work, but the entire team was obviously affected by Howard's petulant behavior. Harden has definite issues at times, but you're looking at the wrong guy if you think he's killing this team.
So Dwight asks to be more involved and get yet more touches than he already did, and logically Morey said no. what happened after that? did he storm out of the meeting? did he ask for an explanation why? Is Morey some kind of ogre? It is fairly logical to believe that in said meeting Morey must have tried to reason with him and asked him to play to his strengths, just like Terry says he did. That is not some unreasonable disrespectful thing to do is it? trying to ask an employee to focus on the things he does well and not demanding to do things he is not capable to do, this is just freaking common sense!! The guy is(was) a terrific defensive player, a great rebounder and shot blocker, but offensively if he is not dunking the ball he is absolutely useless. He is an awful post player, cant make free throws and refuses to pick and roll. To make matters worse he is a cry baby that has just failed miserably in his third team in a row that on top of that goes on national media and reveals these sort of BS which are things that simply should not be revealed. Some idiots here say this interview hurts Morey. My God, this interview hurts nobody else but Dwight! He is a freaking free agent looking for one last big contract and he does this????? If there is ever a time in this sport to be cool, calm and collective is this one!!! Do you think other GMs will be comfortable signing a player that not only is obviously emotionally unstable and difficult to handle, but that is capable of betraying their confidence by publicly saying this sort of $hit? If I am a GM i could easily believe that if i sign this guy and i tell him something private that he doesnt like he might go and reveal it to the entire world...... Naaaaah no GM will like that.... Every time Dwight opens his mouth he proves that he is a problematic inmature fool that is wasting his talents (being big and strong, thats pretty much it) and that if he doesn't change his attitude will never find success (championships) in the league.
Harden did his best by giving minimal effort at the beginning of the season and coming into camp overweight. Come on man, Harden was awful the first half of the season. I don't even remember when he began to shoot over 40%. Neither are leaders and are 2nd fiddles at best.
I think the partnership was bad. Team played just fine last year with Dwight gone. Obviously...a lot of other aspects helped go into that than just Harden, but I think it matters nonetheless. We'll see what happens next year when Dwight's gone, but I think you'll see a little better chemistry on the court just by simply taking Dwight out of the equation.
