I am being serious. I want to know why anyone would seriously think he would be good as the leader of our nation. I know he is the president now, but I want to know why you voted for him. Of course you would vote for him now because he is your only republican nominee, but why would you choose him over candidates like John McCain or Lamar Alexander in 2000. What has he done to make you go "Damn, I need that man running my country."

Absolutely nothing. He has done plenty, however, to make me go "Damn, I wish that man was drunk and sitting on a barstool at an icehouse in Crawford Texas".

He's 35 years old, he was born in the United States, and he's lived in the United States at least 14 years...

Cool...in nine years, I can for President!

I'm glad you put a question mark at the end of the first sentence. Yes, there is question about him meeting that qualification also.

He got the votes of the electoral college. Enuf said. And as for the 10 numbnuts the Dems have aligned against him, are they more qualified? You have a general that speaks out of both sides of his mouth and tells little "creative license" type lies in addition to the fact we was given the ax for trying to start WWIII with the Russkies. You have a governor (Dean) who is trying to be the Dem version of McCain, but with no excuse for his instability. You have an unstable senator (Graham) who possibly needs to ramp down on the rhetoric and the medication. Then you have a pair of senators (Kerry and Lieberman) with all the panache of pine oil. Not exactly people with the "qualifications" or as the media parrotted in 2000 about Bush the "gravitas" for the biggest office in the land. Compared to Bush as far as the security of our nation, I'd go with Bush anyday of the week and Christmas too. :D

    He was Governor of Texas

I'd say that's more of a qualification than governor of some other state....like Arkansas for example

Bush is the product of traditional politics of money and connections. What are the odds that a father and son could become the leader of the free world? 100 million eligible candidates and a father and son team are the special ones? North Korea and Saudi Arabia might not have a problem with this, but it's an obvious sham. And it's surprising that no one in the Republican party has the nuts to challenge that C student for the presidency. Then you know it's all party politics.

    Max,

Do you honestly believe that George Bush II, would have been a viable candidate if he wasn't a millionaire?

    Great Leader Qualities:
    1. Well-liked (Saladin and Napoleon are examples)
    2. Good at motivating
    3. Intelligent
    4. Lead their people to greatness or out of trouble.
    edit: 5. Honesty

    Does Bush qualify? Probably not.

    why is that relevant?

certainly having the money didn't hurt him, if that's what you mean. but the guy was governor of texas. governors of large states are typical candidates for presidential nominations.

and why is this being visited now? seems to me this would have been a neat topic before the 2nd tuesday in november 2000.

He is now and he didn't earn a penny of it through hard work. In fact, he and his wife have never owned their own house, ever!
