Ah, the power of Swiss cheese. This statement has so many holes I don't know where to begin. Lacking in true basketball knowledge? And what exactly would that be? Questionable leadership? As evidenced through? Zero court vision? That must be the reason behind his 0.3 assist average.

Bottom line on Francis- he's a good scorer, but not a great scorer. A la Jason Kidd. He's a good assist person, but not a great assist person. A la Allen Iverson. He's a great rebounder for a point guard. A la Walt Frazier. He turns the ball over too much. A la Kobe Bryant.

He doesn't do anything fantastic, but he does them all well. Except for defense. I'll take him over Parker and Bibby and Williams and Snow and Billups and Fisher and Davis and Miller and Stoudamire and Bremer and Tinsley any day.

That's cool, you have a right to your opinion. So do I. Your analysis is wrong, it's obviously slanted against Francis (easy, let's pick out the negatives and put the big shiny flashlight on them- the positives, oh they don't exist), and if you're happy with that, Mr. Cochran, I guess that's cool with me, too.

How can you or egn say Ask Tex, when you guys are DEFENDING
Tex's ranking? (ie Francis bashing)

Bottom line is that Steve Francis is a much better basketball player/point guard/combo guard/etc than a number of those players ranked on the list. As to what ranking he deserves then that is debateable.

 

so if tex is right.I guess you would trade steve straight up for either mike bibby,eric snow,chaunecy billuips,or gilbert arenas..........(you must be kidding)and iam pretty sure since its tex winters that ,he would probaly pick derick fisher over franics also.

What the hell!? Is the main point you guys are pushing the fact that Francis is not a someone's list? Big deal! Get over it! I find it funny that Tex left Francis off the list. But that's just me (a known Francis basher!). My list would be slightly different, as I've posted above (some of you need to catch up on this thread before you post). But still, it doesn't matter.

The fact of the matter is, you guys are debating "being on a list." Who cares if you think, I think, or whoever thinks he's 4th or 5th or 6th. It DOES NOT MATTER. It's just a LIST!!!!!!!!

Frikin get over it! Please! I could come up with a bunch of list that rank different skill sets (traditional pg, scoring pg, defensive pg, etc...). But it would be just for amusement. Just like this one, or ESPN's or Sportingnews...it doesn't matter.

I mean, come on! Do you think that by just being on Tex's "Favorite Player List" that will some how make Francis a better player!?! We'd still be in the same predicament that we find ourselves in today. Nothing would change. Francis would still be the same guard he is today.

The fact of the matter is that Francis has PROVED NOTHING. I don't care if he's on or not on the list. It would change nothing.

Well after reading all of this - I would say that (most) of you posters are ready to bend over for Francis (literally). This makes me pretty sick. When I compare all of the hatred over the new jerseys and the love for this guy, I can say that I am very confused. Obviously you guys are expecting great things (which we have not seen yet, much less have been givin hope) I would say that this article was right on the money!

So what, even if I agreed with you (which I don't), four years ago he was better than JR Bremer and Eric snow and Gilbert ARenas and Andre Miller all those other chumps. And four years later he still is.

Of course, he probably couldn't match BJ Armstrong in his prime, who was an artistic scoring machine and the second coming of Calvin Murphy.

Therefore, I think this guy (the reporter) put it right on the money.

Until Francis proves something, no credit is due, so stop trying to cover for him. Hopefully he reads this article and realizes that he still doesn't amount to schit in the league, and can finally prove something instead of being worried about is reputation.

Sure, it seems trivia to be talking about a stupid ranking but it's the 2(?) days before preseason starts. We gotta talk about something.
