Don't know how many people care since the 'Stros are not in it, but here are my predictions: AL Division Series Boston over Oakland 3-2 Yankees over Minnesota 3-1 Championship Series Boston over Yankees 4-3 NL Division Series Cubs over Atlanta 3-2 San Francisco over Florida 3-1 Championship Series Cubs over San Francisco 4-3 World Series Boston over Cubs 4-3 In all seriousness, my head tells me Yankees vs Braves, but this is what my heart wants - a Red Sox-Cubs World Series. It is nice to dream about it for a week or two.
It'll be the Yankmees over the Braves, and I won't watch a damn bit of it. If it were Cubs vs. Red Sox, I would watch every inning of every game.
AL Division Series Boston over Oakland 3-1 Oakland is the Houston Astros of the AL. They struggle to even get past the 1st round. Yankees over Minnesota 3-1 Minnesota will put up a good fight in 3 of the 4 games but will lose in the late innings from some clutch hitting and pitching from the Yankees. Championship Series Yankees over Boston 4-3 in a heartbreaker. I just don't trust their relief pitching otherwise I'd pick them to win the AL. NL Division Series Cubs over Atlanta 3-2 Biggest surprise in the 1st round. Cubs pitching will carry them past the Braves ridiculous hitting 1-9 lineup. They'll shut em down and average 3 or 4 every outting against the Braves. The only thing might sway me back on the Braves is if Smoltz is back to his old form. If his injury isn't bothering him anymore, I'd expect him to ridiculous stuff like Oswalt did when he came off the DL pitching with electric stuff. In some sense injuries are good since it gives a pitchers arm some rest so when they come in the middle or late in the season, they're pitches just has that extra zing to it. However if Smoltz injury prevents him from throwing his usual stuff, I stand by my decision of Cubs over Braves. San Francisco over Florida 3-0 Florida will put a scare in San Fran on the 3rd game at home, but San Fran will finish them late in the game. Championship Series San Francisco over Cubs 4-2 Barry will carry them past their tough pitching. Cubs will lose a heartbreaker in one of these in a pitching duel in which Barry puts drops a 400 foot bomb to pretty much seal the deal. World Series San Francisco over New York 4-2 I swear if San Fran didn't have Barry I'd be choosing the Cubs and Boston over them, but lets face it. The guys clutch when it counts, and is the best hitter of this era hands down. The team is probably the most solid with a solid starting 5, speed with men on base, a great defense behind the pitchers, and experienced quality veterans who know how to grind with the best of them in a pitching duel.
i predict a bigger choke job than Manny on a date cost me the chance to see the Stros live in the playoffs
I think baseball wants the Cubs vs. Boston. IF it were basketball we all know that we would definitely see that.
AL Division Series Oakland over Bost 3-2 Yankees over Minnesota 3-0 Championship Series Oakland over Yankees 4-2 NL Division Series Atlanta over Cubs 3-0 Florida over San Fran 3-2 Championship Series Florida over Atlanta 4-3 World Series Oakland over Florida 4-2
Go Twins!! Champ Series: Braves vs. Marlins Twins vs. Red Sox World Series: Twins vs. Marlins TWINS! (it's been 12yrs, they need another one!)
Florida and New York, the only teams left that have actually won a championship in recent memory. Marlins win in 7.
