Nothing for me personally to discuss. Monotheism just doesn't do it for me. I believe there are about 10 or so religions that believe in one god. Am I supposed to pick the most popular one? The one that is prevalent where I was born?

Being a good person to my friends, family, and others is good enough for me.

Yeah, they still built a bureaucratic and philosophical framework for education, civil law, human rights and representative government.

"They" as in "they who built a bureaucratic and philosophical framework for education, civil law, human rights and representative government just happened to profess the Christian faith"?

I mean, do we attribute differential calculus to Christianity?

I thought D&D was secular. We don't talk about religion in these parts.

The only thing that I pray is that my feet don't fail me now.

No, we could just look up by whom and for what initial purpose many of the first western universities were built, who had the first organized legal codes or who provided administrative and bureaucratic support and counsel to feudal monarchies.

Anyone who is claiming that Christianity had a very positive impact on humanity is right to a certain extent. Beyond government and law think about all of the art and culture that came out of this ideology. From Rembrandt and Bach to Coltrane.

All the same, the fact of the matter is those ideals some of you are asking Christianity to take credit for propagating, (Democracy, Math, Music, Philosophy as well as a host of other ideals) were invented by Pagans.

Every religious belief has good and also a lot of baggage. Which makes these conversations frankly a little silly.

You are thinking of the Hellenes, pouhe. Cleisthenes brought democracy to Athens in 507 BC. And Protagoras wrote that "Man is the measure of all things" a generation after that, beginning the notion of atheism within schools of western philosophy that caught on all across the Meditarranean, and was suppressed only with violence long before Jesus of Nazareth was allegedly born, much less the modern Church.

I think that was the point, trying to start something here I guess.

The world already argues and fights so much about religion, why let it creep onto this board?
