Yes, Larry Bird who shot a career 37% from deep and attempted less than 2 three pointers per game could totally match what Curry is doing. Lol gtfo here.

He's the greatest shooter of all time by far and it's not even close. When you have handles like that with legit range from 35 ft you can't stop him. He may have a slight frame but his balance, coordination, mobility and agility are all top notch.

Also if he played in the 80s I'm sure he definitely would have had an enforcer or two to make sure he was protected like Wayne Gretzky was.

Uh... maybe go watch some YouTube video of Bird there youngster. Bird shot few three pointers because offenses where different back then, not because he couldn't shoot them. Balance, coordination, mobility, and agility are kind of hindered when someone has their hands on you the whole time and there's no such thing as a flagrant foul.

Yeah... That's what is interesting... I think Curry is incredible on his shot, but I also wonder even with enforcers in 70s-some 90s Era how well you could protect him. I also wonder because of that play if great shooters were injured or as mentioned style of play didn't shoot like that (no 3 point line/inside was better/no analytics etc etc).

But since we can't say "what if", just like the Rockets didn't get to face the Bulls in the 90s, I'm going to have to say Curry. He's even playing less minutes and doing more. Just insane on his shot, from that distance might as well call it a 4 or 5 point basket, haha.

Well it helps that his 'enforcers' are allowed to set moving screens, clotheslines, etc to free him up. Bogut, Green, Iggy, Barnes and whoever else are like Curry's offensive linemen. They get away with way too much. It's like they are allowed to play 80s/90s ball while Curry and Thompson drain 3s at an incredible clip.

Bird's a good shooter, smooth with quick release. But his all around game plus competitive streak mark his legend, not his three. You don't fear bird's three like u fear Curry's. No one can.

Bird's best 3pt% is .427 on 56 makes. Curry's worst is an outlier .424, with every other season hovering around 44-45%.

You can only say what if Bird had focused on practicing the three growing up, would he get up another notch, entering the next tier of hypotheticals.

Also, why do people keep short changing Curry's strength and toughness? He can take hits and finish bro. He's the best finisher in the paint in today's Nba. BEST. His handles alone can evade many slow-footed bulldozers. His skill level is still far superior to his opponents of yester-eras as is today's. The only difference would be what's called a foul or not a foul.

Unless you imply players back then are so thin skinned that one would wanna hurt the guy just cos he can dribble around and make a 30 footer in a blink, and that you can't defend him? You can attack a guy at the rim cos the offensive player come ask for contact. But Curry has a knack for getting to his spot and create space. Even if you try punching the guy, you won't reach him.

tl;dr Curry will play the same way in the 80s 90s era. Fatigue would be the only variable imo as it relates to his ppg.

Keep in mind that in 80's ball, the three point shot was seen as a gimmick shot. In 1980, the average three point shot attempts per team was 2.8 v 23.7 attempts in 2016.

No question, Curry is a three point artist, currently it's greatest proponent. Larry was no slouch as a shooter and whose to say that if he played in today's three point happy league, he could put up incredible numbers.
