Dwight definitely hindered Capla's progress this year. The only way you can improve your game is to go out there and experience all the ups and downs of the game. When you can't do that because of a declining, overrated center, that's an issue.

no that's not the only way you can improve. Getting on the floor while being a liability does nothing significant as far as improvement. The minutes got Capella got throughout the course of the year were indicative of where he is as a player right now.

Caplea is better than Dwight defensively, and not far behind on the offensive side of the ball. Dwight is more of a liability on this team considering his massive salary.

yeah ok. just goes back what I said previously. Part of me wants Howard not to be here so people like you will see the disaster it would be with Capela at this stage of his career in the middle as a full time center.

That's exactly what I want. Next year will be interesting because DOFs such as yourself will be shocked by the fact that Dwight STILL sucks on another team, while we will witness Capela's potential explode.

I don't trust his durability enough to do more than 3 years at $20 million per.

Truth is, I think the issues between him and Harden are so toxic that it could continue to derail this team regardless of talent. My wish is that he chooses not to be a Rocket next season.

I like Dwight, but there are chemistry issues on the court that affect team ball. So no we cannot contend. We need to mix it up/find better chemistry if we are going to progress from our downfall of a season.

As long as Harden is on this team, I don't see any room for Dwight's ego.

Yep. Nice try, DM. You made a big move that everyone thought would put us over the top, but it didn't work out.

The problem with keeping Dwight around by signing him to a reduced salary is that we remain essentially the same team we were last year, only with a new coach. Two coaches tried and failed to make that team work. And even if you somehow manage to lure KD in, we're still the team that has to feed Dwight in the paint to keep him happy, then watch as he displays his astounding lack of post moves. If he had developed any kind of facing-the-basket game over the last decade, he could still be a force for years to come.

The biggest reason, though, may be this: It's hard to imagine any big-name FAs deciding to come here to join the nucleus of this year's dysfunctional team. This was a team that was derided in the media and repeatedly laughed at on national broadcasts. Lots of talent, don't play hard, can't work together, etc. If Aldridge wouldn't sign here after we made the WCF, Durant is certainly not going to want to come to this team after the season we just had. Time to let Dwight move to his next stop so we can make some big changes.

    ^Two bad coaches.

And you don't have the same team. Even at around 20M, he would count less against the cap esp after it blows up. You wouldn't be wasting cap space for a guy like Lawson and you could have even more wiggle room if Ariza and Brewer can be dumped.

But the offense still has to be built partially around a center who is on most nights not a huge upgrade over Omer Asik. If we got Fearsome-Beast Dwight every game, that would be a different story. Regardless of what salary Dwight would accept, I don't thing he'd accept a smaller role. I'd rather find a starting center who's better suited to the modern NBA game.
