A remote-control bomb attached to a motorcycle has ripped through a crowded street lined with restaurants and discos, killing 11 people and wounding at least 40. The government blamed Sunday's blast on rebels. The bomb exploded at about 3 a.m. local time in the Zona Rosa district in Florencia, 335 km south of Bogota. Revellers were leaving bars to go home at the time. Two police officers patrolling the area are among the dead. The blast also killed a 12-year-old boy selling candies on the street. A 15-year-old girl injured in the blast had a leg amputated in hospital. The attack was a blow to Colombian President Alvaro Uribe's efforts to rein in indiscriminate violence in a four-decade guerrilla war that has left thousands of people dead each year. Defense Minister Marta Lucia Ramirez said the rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, was responsible for the attack.
