(Just out of curiosity) why you choose Houston over any other cities?

I'm 4th generation Houstonian. My sons are 5th. Houston is in my blood. It's a big part of my identity, honestly. It's a big part of my story, and I'm a small part of its story. Have no desire to live anywhere else.

I like big cities and I don't like cold weather or shovling snow and I don't like LA

Houston felt like home the first day I arrived here, and it has been home ever since. No matter how attractive other places seem to be, even my own home country, they will never feel like home the way Houston does.

Family is here. I'll more than likely have the opportunity to move in the next year for my company, but I'll more than likely opt to stay. I feel safe in League City :).

Honestly? Only because of the money and diversity/size of economy.

I moved here in 2006 and still don't like the city overall. It's just a city to build a nest egg and then move on to somewhere else later on in life.

But I did not grow up nor go to school in Houston, so I have no personal nostalgic attachment like a lot of you people.

I grew up through high school in Dallas, and then went to UT and after college years stayed in Austin several more years to work. Then moved to Houston in 2006.

Houston is definitely my least favorite out of the 3 cities. And I've lived in each for more than 10 years now, so I'd say that's more than enough time to make fair comparisons.

I like Houston because it's home. It's a city that didn't need to be told how special it was to understand that there is more to our bayou city than meets the eye. Now the national media has slowly began to pick up on the fact that there's more to Houston than Mosquitos, fat people and humidity. I like Houston because I left for four years and always knew in my heart that I wanted to return. The food is incredible. The cost, while higher than 2008-2011 is still relatively low. The art is fantastic. The people here don't have notions that they are special because they live here. The city has room for growth and I believe it will continue to evolve into a ebter more walkable place. I believe by 2020, Houston will become one of the most desirable locations in the country.

I'm a 3rd generation Houstonian who's lived in Austin for the last 36 years, so while I didn't exactly choose Houston, it was a trip spending the first half of my life there, and it still feels like home. My mother was a kid growing up in the Heights when it was still a separate town. Mom and my grandmother used to ride the streetcar to go shopping on Saturdays at places like Foley's. Growing up, we went to the movie palaces Downtown that are gone now (a crime!), and stuffed ourselves afterwards at the original James Coney Island, still the best chili dogs I've ever had. You sat on those wooden chairs with the attached tables like we had in elementary school, scarfing them down, drinking Coke and Dr. Pepper out of glass bottles. Good times.
