Since the old thread with a poll is pretty outdated, I figured I'd do an updated poll with all the candidates that have been linked in one way or another to the Rockets.

Have to rock with JVG. He'll get Harden on the right track. Have him bring in a few great assistants and we are primed for a decade long run.

Vogel with Hollins as head assistant or the other way around.

For those that vote Saka Smart, Bill Self, or other, I'd love to hear why. I honestly don't know much about them, especially Saka.

All these great young coaches with promise and people here want a re-tread who hasn't coached in 10 years.

    Gotta love Houston Sports.

I'm really torn on JVG and Vogel. I like JVG a lot but are we getting a guy we could potentially build for the future with in Vogel? Either guy is going to need a stellar offensive assistant to make sure the ball gets in the basket. I think it comes down to who can handle people the best and who comes with the best plan for making sure the ball moves around. Either guy would be a really solid selection.

Cmon don't you know it wasn't his fault his team went 0-3 in the playoffs twice blowing a 2-0 lead. Don't you know it's not his fault he hasn't won a playoff series as a coach since 2000? It's never van gundys fault. Just give him a lifetime contract since it's never his fault.

I give Vogel the edge over JVG. JVG hasn't coached in a decade. Vogel's been doing it the last 5 1/2 years, and he was an assistant the decade before that. Vogel also is only 42 which could help him relate to today's NBA player better than the 54 year-old JVG.

And the dude had a helluva decent run in Indiana. His only losing season was last year when Paul George played only 6 games due to that horrific injury. And prior to that in his first 3 full seasons with the team, they finished 42-24(equal to 52-30 in an 82-game season), 49-32, and 56-26. He had them in the ECF in the latter 2 years, and they came within a blown defensive assignment on a LeBron game-winning layup of reaching the Finals in 2013.

Unless he doesn't want the gig, there is no reason for Morey and Les to pass up on this guy.
