This is exactly what my friends who are Laker friends said about Kobe. Now more and more, I'm thinking about the Rockets' current situation with Harden.

I'm looking for the Reggie Jackson option but can't seem to find it.

Also can't seem to find kemba.

I'll leave cp3 out of it because he controls that entire offense, even if it does mean the ball stops and stays with one person for long durations.

When Ginobody was in his prime, he played nearly identical to Harden when Parker was not on the floor.

btw: Kudos to basketballholic clarifying at the beginning that this is not a Harden-thread in disguise, saying he fully intends for it to be about Harden the ballhog --- "no disguise."

Aelliott, wow, Reggie Jackson, absolutely! How many times in the playoffs did he just dribble out the clock. Some of those possessions were painful.

When does Harden get to play with *his* Parker?

Holic doesn't seem to understand what a ball stopper is.

No he understands. It's the rest of the world that doesn't understand. Just ask him.

The biggest ball grabber is Reggie Evans.

The formula is super secret and incorporates beard length into the calculation. It will be groundbreaking.

When Westbrook is looking to score, the man eyes are glued to the rim even if he's going 5 on 1 with 4 wide open teammates. But the dude is a man amongst children in the NBA, he can get a layup whenever he wants to so I don't blame him for hogging the ball when his team needs points. He also averages like 10 assist so the dude is also an amazing passer and passes plenty.

Very simply, a ball-stopper is a player who stops ball movement, either by catching and holding it ala Melo or by dribbling it through his legs and deaking repeatedly while going nowhere with it while simultaneously ignoring ball reversal and players cutting who are open. A ball stopper simply stops ball movement.

I figured Melo would lead this poll. He is a terrible ball-stopper. But it looks like among the plethora of players listed that Harden ranks among the top ball-stoppers in the Association.

You can come up with a litany of excuses for him being a ball-stopper and a few of them might actually be legitimate but.....if he's viewed in this light by the locals, how do you think he is viewed nationally? And even if he has a legitimate right to be a ball-stopper in this last season's roster doesn't it at least speak to you how far behind we are in developing a championship contending team?

NBA stats show that Harden possesses the ball less than most any primary ball handlers and you take that to mean that he's one of the biggest ball stoppers? He's somehow stopping the ball without physically possessing it?

It's not the strangest thing that you've said but it still has no basis in reality.

He's able to stop the ball by intimidating his teammates into a state of induced hesitancy - it is a revolutionary perspective, read more about it, or do yourself a favor and put jopatmclown show/basketballolic on ignore and take him with the requisite mine of salt.

I did this about 4 years ago and have never looked back. It works.
