Aren't there other ways to make a living even if NFL is not in the immediate future? Afterall, he's got a college degree, no? Oh oops, forgot he's an aggie. I admire Kubiak as a man, but I could never forgive him for picking his fellow ag while Justin Tucker went undrafted.
Ya he was the top rated kicker so really wasn't seen as that bad of a pick at the time. Not a fan of drafting kickers no matter what but guess you're looking at a 10+ year investment if you hit. Going through the list of drafted K, only ones I can really say were for sure worth it are Gostkowski and Crosby, and that was a decade ago.
That kicker is the real deal though. Greatest college kicker of all-time, he will be a 10+ year starter for the Bucs.
I think he's a good kicker but he doesn't have a monster leg. He's not Janikowski in his prime and he probably won't be prime Vanderjact accurate. He'd have to be greatest kicker in the league for 10 years, an onside kick specialist and automatic from like 53 or shorter (I mean like 96% type automatic) and never miss an XP before I could imagine him being worth a 2nd.
Can anyone explain how a draft war room comes to the conclusion to draft a kicker or punter anywhere in the first 5 rounds? I mean I know fantasy football losers that draft kickers way early but even they have some restraint and they are not being paid to make informed expert decisions. I just don't understand how anyone GM, scout, president/owner, whoever can sign off on that in the 2nd round. I don't care how good he is that is just absurd to me. Wouldn't you rather take a flyer on someone at a harder to fill position with potential? I am not hating on the kicker position. I just don't get how you don't at least wait a round or two and then draft him if he is available. If not, so be it.
Would Aguayo have been taken that early if XP rule was not changed (AND resulted in so many missed XPs across the NFL)? I can definitely see the logic
